Facilities and Utilities Engineer II - First Shift - Mon - Fri

1st Shift - Monday through Friday.

What will you do and, how will you make an impact?

Responsible for the sites secondary utility and mechanical systems including Air Handling Units, Dust Collection Units, Central Vacuum system, chilled water, steam, and reheat systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, new construction design, existing re-designs and upgrades, and setting maintenance expectations for preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance.

HVAC mechanical systems include: Air Handling Units, Dust Collection, and Central Vacuum.

Utilities Engineer is to partner with Building Automation System (BAS) Owner for required controls support and Electrical System Owner for required electrical support. (Utilities Supervisor, Manager and Power Plant Operators provide oversight for the primary utilities in the Power Plant.)

Responsible for providing technical support for site utility projects, including new designs, re-designs, upgrades, new construction support, and maintenance repair projects requiring design work.

Provides utility and mechanical knowledge and support for Temperature, Humidity and Pressure program. This is to include, but not limited to, providing oversight to changes in balancing requirements, providing technical insight on HVAC mechanical issues, working with BAS System Owner to troubleshoot design flaws and support maintenance team in efforts to return processing areas to operation.

Proactively drives quality improvements to utility and mechanical systems.

Responsible for working with Computer Maintenance Management System Subject Matter Expert (CMMS SME) to develop an accurate maintenance plan to be executed by maintenance team, aiming for a more proactive and less reactive HVAC and utility system maintenance. Maintenance programs include, but not limited to, mechanical inspections and replacements, HEPA filter testing and replacement, pre-filter inspections and replacements, air balancing for processing rooms, and duct cleaning.

Responsible for representing and providing technical knowledge for HVAC related work on various project teams, such as, maintenance, validation, engineering, and daily department communication meetings. May also assist in developing and maintaining various quality and training systems and programs.

Position requires flexibility at times to complete emergency response to HVAC mechanical issues with night and end of week shifts.

Escalates critical events and investigation findings to Utilities Supervisor. Models effectiveness and constructive communication and interactions with other departments, both orally and in writing; maintain acceptable proficiency in technical and non-technical (e.g. interpersonal) skills.

Participates in inspection readiness activities and may also be involved in audits and inspections by regulatory agencies.

Responsible for providing technical knowledge and insight for HVAC related deviations affecting batches, preps, lots and equipment to ensure all cGMPs, SOPs, and customer requirements are met.

Requires a passion for problem solving, attention to detail, good organizational skills, a sound understanding of cGMPs and HVAC and utility support in Manufacturing/Packaging operations.

Requires an understand of cGMP documentation, including but not limited to: Change Control, SOP writing and updating, IQ/OQ/PQ Procedures, Maintenance Job Plans, and Deviation/CAPA responses.

Requires interaction with QA GMP Services, Process Engineers, Quality Control, QA Regulatory, Engineering and Clients.

Responsible for overseeing HVAC related issues in the RAPID process (emergency response meetings to issues effecting or threatening critical operations) including initial response, containment, root cause investigation and determining appropriate CAPA.

How will you get here?

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Degree is preferred.

1-3 years in mechanical or HVAC systems

1-3 years in cGMP

Quality, continuous improvement, process and manufacturing investigation and technical writing experience is desired.

Ability to understand GMP requirements.

Preferred technical skills: CAD, SAP, Maximo and, TrackWise.

Sound problem solving skills and good verbal/written communication skills. Must be capable of using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to learn and navigate through investigation, quality and ERP systems.

Must have good ability to read, understand, and develop mechanical drawings

Experience writing technical reports is desired.

Must be able to manage and prioritize daily tasks with minimal supervision.

Must have independent decision-making capabilities and ability to think conceptually and understand impact of decisions.

Good organizational skills resulting in the ability to be self-directed and manage multiple projects.
