Northrop Grumman SSSD has an opening for a Manager Systems Engineering 3 - SE Payload Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
The Ultima Systems Engineering Lead/Manager is responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team of system engineers in delivering system products pertaining to the design/development, test and verification sell-off of in-house and sub-contracted hardware for the Ultima program communications payload. The SE Lead is also responsible for supporting integration and test activities of the units into the payload for delivery to the prime contractor.
The Ultima SE Lead helps drive the requirements allocation to hardware Units, drives assembly and documentation of Unit verification evidence that supports system sell-off, develops talent and builds strong system engineering teams, leads change resulting in products improvement and efficiency, and solves complex technical problems across a plethora of communications hardware.
The Utlima SE Lead will report directly to the Ultima Program Director, and is responsible for helping PLSE:
Drive technical, cost and schedule for various hardware system engineering activities and deliverables within the antennas, digital, RF and power converter hardware line of products
Manage key hardware design and architecture trades while balancing cost, schedule and technical risks
Identify and realize opportunities to reduce cost and understand/improve processes utilized in hardware design, development, verification and delivery of Unit products
Propose staffing solutions that best utilize employees skill set and help drive efficiency within PLSE organization
Closely coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders:
Ultima Program Office, peer Utlima Projects (ATL, MA), Ultima IPT HW Managers (A&E, RF, D&L/PC), and Ultima support organizations (Business Development, Security, Configuration Management)
Senior level customers, technical advisors, and subject matter experts
There will be regular status reports with program management and the customer, as well as support to all major program milestones.
Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering (5+ with a MS STEM degree, 3+ with a PhD STEM degree)
Active DoD Top Secret clearance with background investigation in-scope and the ability to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance
Proven team leadership experience in program integration, operations, program execution, proposals, or capture efforts -- to meet quality, performance, cost, and schedule requirements
Active SCI clearance.
Proven record of developing/implementing action plans to improve organization performance
Ability to quickly develop working knowledge across diverse technical areas
Experience with new business development, including proposal development and capture management
Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task
Demonstrated ability to create inclusive teams with engaged team members and lead through influence
Demonstrated ability to partner across organizational boundaries (i.e., cross-Sector, cross-site, cross-discipline, cross-function, cross-program) as part of a top performing team
Demonstrated ability to work across organizational layers, from individual contributor through Executive Leadership

Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $256,400.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
