Mechanical Engineer/HVAC Designer

 

Weston & Sampson is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer or HVAC Designer with 0-3 years of experience to join our HVAC design team in any of our Weston & Sampson New England offices. This is an opportunity for a motivated young professional to grow as a holistic design/energy engineer and be a significant contributor to shaping the companys future in these industries.

 

What youll do:

  • With the oversight of a senior engineer/designer, conduct engineering, design and energy auditing/analysis services for both new and retrofit projects for a variety of facility types within the private, public and municipal sectors including but not limited to commercial, institutional, industrial, and educational facilities.
  • Responsibilities will include Revit modeling, maintaining project documentation, coordinating with multi-disciplinary personnel located in both local and regional offices, sub-consultants, utility companies, equipment vendors and clients.
  • Requires local travel within New England and occasionally the east of the US for project meetings and site investigation.

What youll bring:

An ideal candidate will have a fundamental understanding of and/or some experience in HVAC and/or energy related systems. Desired experience would include either or both energy analysis and/or HVAC/Mechanical design working in a multi-disciplinary professional engineering firm. A working understanding of air-side, hydronic, steam, and BAC systems as they pertain to HVAC and/or central plants systems is a plus.  Candidate will be able to gain a working knowledge and understanding of ASHRAE design and energy standards as well as building codes.

 

What youll also bring:

  • Minimum of 0-3 years of relevant mechanical design and/or energy related experience
  • BSME from an accredited institution is desirable but necessary
  • EIT is preferred but not required
  • Experience in design and/or analysis of large central steam and chilled water energy systems is a plus
  • Building load and energy computer modeling, Trane Trac or similar
  • Technical training in mechanical systems
  • Revit 3D modeling
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability of working safely at job sites in and around large mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience with dealing with multiple projects at a time
  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive, production and results oriented; strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Valid Drivers License
