Business Accounting Integration Consultant - Hybrid

The Opportunity

As an Business Accounting Integration Consultant, you will have the exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with key areas of the CFO organization to help drive, test, analyze, and execute on General Ledger integration and transformation projects happening at MassMutual. This role will work closely with business leaders across the Company and with the CFO Controllers Organization to analyze upcoming projects/initiatives within the Company that drive, execute and/or will have an impact on our general ledger. This role will leverage the business requirements within our Controllers business areas to assess the accounting impacts from any related projects to our General Ledger. The individual will work closely with project teams to review. You will play a key role in understanding the request/project, analyzing the accounting implications, integration considerations to the general ledger and all related testing with guidance. In addition, you will be tasked with being an expert ans sought as a key resource for accounting related queries and their impact on the general ledger.

The Team

The Business Accounting Integration (BAI) Team, as part of the larger Controllers Organization, supports the CFO and operational business areas within the Company. This support includes providing business partners our analysis of accounting requirements that are needed to be considered in any projects or initiatives as it relates to integrating into the general ledger. We are accountable to deliver the requests from our business partners while also proactively engaging our internal partners in the CFO. The team is using data and analytics to drive improvement. We evaluate requests to determine where the activities fit in our operating model, where technology or automation can be implemented, understand the value add of a request and look to implement consistency amongst our business areas.

The BAI Team is comprised of motivated business consultants, that collaborate with one another and with various areas of the CFO organization daily. Each team partner shares the ability to think critically and creatively, strongly communicate, hold each other accountable, and maintain a

The Impact:

As a Business Accounting Integration Consultant, you will make the following impacts:

  • Work independently and with management on highly visible, divisional/cross-divisisional complex projects

  • Create and perform tailored testing of accounting integration feeds for projects to ensure operating effectiveness

  • Create formal documentation for project testing to allow for transparency of inputs, outputs, and requirements

  • Identify and summarize key dependencies, system impacts, and activities required to achieve successful project outcomes

  • Analyze, test, and review data, transactions, and reports to ensure stakeholder requirements are met

  • Map out existing and future-state data flows to assist with design and implementation decisions

  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies to allow for increased efficiencies for future projects

  • Work closely with Advanced Consultants on the team to help train and guide them

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related major

  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting and/or audit (preferably in public accounting)

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite

The Ideal Qualifications

  • CPA or other professional designation

  • Background in transformational projects

  • Experience in assessing financial/accounting impacts of major changes to the General Ledger

  • Proficient working in MS Excel and SAP

  • Experience in documenting processes, and developing new policies and procedures

  • Strong skill in using logical approaches to resolve issues

  • Ability to visualize the larger picture versus working in silos
