Financial Analyst

External Description


Performs financial analysis, provides interpretation and recommendations to management related to key performance indicators, sales, markets, margins, and cost reduction opportunities. Performs monthly accounting processes for Saltchuk Marine Services (SM) and supports the sub-consolidation of the SM subsidiaries. Performs Business Unit Controller functions as assigned.


  • Supports initiatives to drive standardized and actionable reporting, including the development of ad hoc reports using available tools.

  • Participates in the implementation and development of SAP, including support of operating business transactional needs (i.e. sales and purchase order processes) and reporting tools for use by the operating company business managers.

  • Reviews and confirms monthly reports and prepares supplemental report to the parent company.

  • Performs accounting and financial analysis functions for as assigned.

  • Prepares the annual budget and forecasting as assigned.

  • Prepares annual tax reporting on behalf of corporate parent as assigned.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of current asset utilization and future investments.

  • Supports management via ad hoc analysis.

  • Experience in a transportation industry environment preferred.

  • Good command of English language necessary for oral, written and telephone communications.

  • Strong experience in creating financial models.

  • Proficient personal computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics etc. Experience with other information data systems a plus.

  • Independent, self motivated, results oriented professional.

This position generally requires a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field along with at least three years of analytical experience.
