PSI is looking for a career minded Systems Engineer to join the Data Centers and Networking team. The Systems Engineer position will help design, build out, maintain, and support our rapidly expanding IT infrastructure in support of our web-based exam delivery platforms. This includes physical servers, virtual environments, storage area networks, and other networking components.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate expertise on core technologies (such as Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, and TCP/IP) as they apply to a well-controlled service provider network. They will also need to provide several examples of complex engineering projects they have successfully delivered. This candidate should have the ability to train and mentor other team members and act as a high-level escalation point for projects and trouble issues. This position offers a high degree of autonomy and empowerment, while still working in a collaborative team environment.
Education- Associate degree or higher; or
- Relevant technology certification; or
- Equivalent experience
Responsibilities- Administer Windows Server/Active Directory
- Administer Linux Server
- Administer DNS, DHCP, SNMP, SMTP, and SSL
- Design, manage, and monitor all installed systems and server infrastructure
- Design, manage, and maintain a clustered hypervisor environment
- Design, manage, and maintain a blade computing environment
- Design, manage, and maintain SANs and other storage architectures
- Design, implement, and support disaster recovery strategy
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
- Evaluate existing tools as well as new products to drive automation and efficiency
- Create and maintain documentation including process, design, and implementation
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Serve as team lead/subject matter expert for junior systems engineers
Requirements- 10+ Years’ Experience in Systems Administration/Engineering
- Experience administrating Windows 2012, Windows 2016, and beyond
- Experience installing and administrating Linux (Centos, RHEL, or Ubuntu)
- Experience administrating AD domains and AD group policies
- An understanding of SANs and common SAN connections, whether iSCSI or Fiber Channel
- A working understanding of network topologies such as VLANs
- Experience in administrating a virtual environment (VMWare, Hyper-V, etc…)
- Experience with CIS Hardening Standards and/or DISA STIGs
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and customer support skills
- Excellent troubleshooting / research skills
- Strive for a continuous improvement mindset
- Must be willing to learn new technologies and know when to seek guidance
- Must be willing to assist with Tier 2 help desk when the occasion calls for it
- Must be able to prioritize time, and manage projects to completion
- Must be a self-starter who is comfortable with minimal direction and oversight
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must have good credit history
- Must be willing to travel, up to 10% of the time
- Nights/Weekends/After Hours as needed for upgrades, migrations, and similar
- Must be US Citizen and able to pass a U.S. government background check
Preferred:- Experience with Cisco UCS Blades/Other blade environments
- Experience with Cisco Networking products
- Experience with Network Intrusion Prevention Systems
- Experience with monitoring tools
- Load Balancer experience (F5, ideally)
- Exchange (2013, 2016) experience
