Our client, in the government sector has a fantastic opportunity for a Domestic Building Insurance (DBI) Claims Specialist to join the Claims team based in Melbourne CBD.

Your role:

Reporting to the Head of Claims, you'll be responsible for end-to-end management, assessment, and

settlement of a diverse range of DBI claims, including complex claims involving active participation in VCAT conferences, mediations and hearings leading settlement discussions and working in conjunction with our appointed legal service providers. As part of a close-knit team working for a diverse insurer, this is a great opportunity to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to deliver high-quality claims outcomes.

Drawing on your highly developed communication, influencing and negotiation skills along with strong analytical skills and insurance industry knowledge, you use insights of trends within your portfolio to work with internal colleagues to build knowledge of emerging trends and strategies to improve the claims management process.
Success in this role requires your ability to comfortably use IT systems, work under pressure effectively while maintaining resilience, provide strong technical expertise and stretch your relationship-building and influencing skills.

Your key relationships:
You work closely with Head of Claims, to actively manage your portfolio and contribute to the development of new and existing claims services and business practices to build the value and contribution to clients.
You liaise with the Chief Officer, to provide insights, trends, and recommendations within your portfolio.
You engage with the Claims team to provide a mentoring and coaching role giving insight into policy and process
You work across the division including peers within the Builder Assessment and Service Delivery teams to improve claims management outcomes.
You build and maintain relationships with key external agencies such as VBA, CAV and DBDRV to share information and collaborate on strategic projects.
You build and maintain effective relationships with third party service providers to obtain optimum claims resolution, ensure value for money and manage recovery opportunities.
What our client is looking for:
You have a proven record of successful administration and management of Claims within the Builders Warranty Insurance or similar scheme (e.g. Property Claims).
3-5 years' claims management experience within Builders Warranty Insurance or similar scheme e.g. Property Claims either with an insurer or in a legal position
Legal studies or qualifications highly desirable
You may also hold a professional membership with a risk management, Insurance, or relevant organisation
Highly developed problem solving, influencing and negotiation skills
Ability to be empathetic to the needs of their clients
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Demonstrated analytical skills and insurance industry acumen
Resilient with the ability to work under pressure and manage and resolve complex claims within a timely manner.
Excellent computer literacy skills and experience using Claims Management IT Systems and MS Office applications.
