Market Fundamentals Manager
Are you skilled in market analysis to provide insights to the business teams? Are you interested in the fundamentals of supply/demand that drive chemicals pricing? If so, this role is key part of the fundamental team to help the Chemicals + Products business make data driven decisions.
Where you fit in
The Market Fundamentals Manager will be part of a small team designed to analyse markets and end uses to provide insights to the commercial teams within Chemicals + Products. They will generally be assigned one or more product lines / end uses to manage.
What’s the role?
You will be entrusted to:
Enhance and maintain evergreen global supply and demand fundamentals, cash cost curves, trade flows, value in use and other analytics across value chains with best economic and modelling practices.
Understand and develop insights on changing industry cost structures, e.g. impact of increasing scales, crude oil to chemicals, new ways of production, new feedstocks, recycling, etc..
Identify and anticipate future market demand drivers, including potential substitute products or demand destruction, re-formulation, regulatory changes, consumer changes, consumer preferences to type of products, etc..
Develop and maintain major competitor intelligence databases to understand their costs, derivative choices, new products, turnaround schedules & product developments to support Marketing choices/initiatives.
Enhance and maintain models to develop Business Planning pricing & OCSVs based on marginal, re-investment economics, new products and product substitutions.
Support development of Scenario based insights and pricing along with Marketing Managers.
Support Project teams to develop and understand how to build in key Commercial and Economics risks for the relevant products/value chains.
Own the Product line data in price viewer and other applications.
Summarise the analytics/insights into actionable advice for Marketing Managers, Product Managers & Product Development Managers towards the Sales teams.
In cooperation with Marketing Managers, build and maintain both internal and external network of people/information sources to feed models with high quality data/intelligence and feed into potential scenarios.
What we need from you
We are keen to speak to analytical individuals with the ability to translate analytics into actionable insights are highly desired for this role and further you will have:
Proven Analysis experience with a sound modelling and economic skills base
Ability to understand market fundamentals and how they apply to pricing analysis
Ability to communicate simple actionable insights derived from complex data
Ability to work cross functionally and externally to acquire market intelligence and translate this to actionable insights
Demonstrate curiosity with commercial hunger
Ideally the candidate will be an expert in polyolefins and other polymers and with strong knowledge of base chemicals.
