This group of professionals is responsible for undertaking a range of business development tasks that may involve directing research and development that may require the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team to prepare the ideal solution for the prospect or market like formulating the expansion strategy for a region, driving and executing the strategy for market entry; supporting the sales and product teams for accessing the market; forging strategic partnerships with the Government/ other partners for investment projects. These positions may or may not have personal revenue targets; they likely have a focus on country, regional or global revenues for a customer set, industry or product/service line.
Broad outline of the Role
Gather inputs from existing accounts for possible BD opportunities; Discuss identified opportunities for technical and commercial viability; Draft BD proposals and submit for review/approval to supervisor and senior management; Conduct first-level negotiations with customer organization. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customer organizations; Attend forums/conferences/ meetings to build relationships with industry peers and gather market information. May be an individual contributor or may lead a team through expertise in most or all areas within Business Development. Tactical role which provides a marked contribution to defining the direction of new products, processes, standards or operational plans based upon business strategy, with a significant mid term impact on business unit overall results. May lead important projects that require providing experienced project team members with instruction, guidance and advice in all aspects of the project to ensure delivery of quality outcomes. Identifies problems and significantly improves, changes or adapts existing methods and techniques. Focus is on implementation and control rather than policy and strategy development. Capable of identifying key issues and priorities and focusing on these to deliver required results with minimal direction and supervision.Able to identify problems and significantly improve, change or adapt existing methods and techniques. Education: Engineer Experience: 7 - 12 years
