Commercial Manager

Main purpose of job: To ensure growth of the Road Transport Brokerage through, key account management, development of routes, new business sales & development, support of sales & operations staff to achieve their objectives

Key Result Areas:

Understanding that the job function is to serve the customer as well as fellow employees with respect, understanding and commitment to achieve service excellence

Responding courteously and immediately to customer queries and requests

Ensuring that the quality of service that is being rendered is of the highest standard at all times and to appreciate that work of a substandard quality is unacceptable

Realising that the customer’s support is what ensures the continued existence of the company and hence, this impacts directly on the continued employment

Ensuring that every effort is made to educate oneself in all facets of the business by observing operational procedures and seeking answers to all the questions from all available sources

Ensuring that honesty and integrity in all dealings with customers and colleagues is maintained

Ensuring that assurance and commitments to customers is kept

Customer Service & Key Account Management

In depth understanding of transport rates & cargoes moving in SA & SADC countries

Quotations & competitive Transport solutions

New Business sales

Research into cargoes moving

Ongoing assistance to Operations & Sales staff to ensure we secure new business

Full understanding of Customs / SARS regulations

Ensure New Debtor Accounts are opened according to procedure.

Ensure that All business is quoted using the quotation templates provided

Understand the customers risk & insurance requirements & quote accordingly

Assist with collection of outstanding payments from customers if/when required

Strong transporter/supplier relationships to ensure best possible solutions

Ensure that all transporters have been through the vetting procedure. Only a GM Transport or the MD of the company can sign off approval of a new transporter.

Ensure the Sales database is kept up to date & maintained

Inherent Requirements

Grade 12

BCom: Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or relevant qualification

Experience :

Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the freight / logistics industry.

A good working knowledge of road transport procedures.

Skills :

High level of computer literacy in MS Office Suite High level of numeracy

Excellent communication oral and verbal Excellent interpersonal skills

Abilities :

Ability to organize, plan and prioritize Ability to work under pressure

Ability to manage Admin

Ability to work to strict deadlines

Ability to deal with customers

Ability to process information
