About The Company  

Formed in 2003, our client is a Not-For-Profit corporate entity owned by members of the Wangka, Lirrga and Tjanpa peoples. It has been established to represent business, socio-economic development, employment and training. 

The Thamarrurr Region is located in the western “Top End” of the Northern Territory with-in the Daly River Port Keats Aboriginal Land Trust. A distinguishing feature of Wadeye is that is a principal place of residence of a number of distinct clan/language groups who have a strong sense of individual identity.

About The Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to provide a high standard of effective patient care in line with the Aged Care Quality Standards.

Reporting directly to the Aged Care Facilities Manager , some of your responsibilities will include:

Attend to or ensure other staff are attending to the personal needs of consumers on a daily basis
Coordinate, deliver, monitor & review the provision of quality, evidenced based care services to consumers
Distribute medication to residential and community consumers either personally or by supervising staff members
Assess and provide for the individual, personal & social needs of residents on a daily basis either personally or by staff
Coordinate the provision of transport for community consumers to the aged care centre and/or to their required destinations
Develop, maintain and review individual client care plans and Six monthly review of care plans
Coordinate community clients’ trips to their outstation homes to visit family

About You 

The successful candidate will have:

An ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
An understanding of and commitment to Indigenous specific service delivery
Understanding of living and working within small rural aboriginal community 
Competence in delivering services that ensures clients and residents are safe
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders including team members, residents, clients and family members 

It would also be desirable to have: 

Relevant post graduate training or education in aged care, acute medical or urgent nursing or plans to undertake same
Experience in providing aged, general and urgent nursing care
Contemporary generalist nursing knowledge and experience
