About the Legal Services Team

The Primary Connect Legal team forms part of Woolworths Legal Services Team and provides thought leadership and professional and independent legal advice that specifically addresses the needs of our Primary Connect (Supply Chain & Logistics) business. We aspire to the highest of professional standards and deliver great experiences by being highly regarded advisors and business partners. About the Role 

As General Counsel, your role will be critically important to the growth of Primary Connect. This is a permanent and full-time role, working with the senior leadership team of Primary Connect. The role is broad and you'll be responsible for building and overseeing Primary Connects’ legal and compliance framework and liaising with executives on a range of relevant legal, regulatory and commercial matters. 

The role will involve, but not be limited to:

Developing and maintaining a relationship with Primary Connect executives and providing legal, strategic and commercial advice to the business on a range of key issues;
Acting as a trusted advisor to key senior Primary Connect stakeholders;
Advising on legal aspects of strategic initiatives and compliance (eg Chain of Responsibility and Workplace Health & Safety);
Drafting, negotiating and supporting on a variety of high-value commercial agreements with third parties and across the Woolworths Group, spanning a wide range of arrangements, including: transport (road and rail), warehousing, international logistics, landside services, the design, supply & installation of equipment and service & maintenance;
Attending and contributing to senior executive meetings as required (Exco and Steerco forums); 
Preparing internal reports for senior management;
Working collaboratively with other Woolworths Legal teams (eg Property, Competition, Privacy and Culture & People) as needed;
Managing and advising on commercial matters (both customer and supplier facing); and
Training and mentoring team members.

About you

We are looking for an experienced Legal professional who is collaborative, passionate and who consistently strives for better ways of working. You will have:

Bachelor of Laws with +10 years PQE with a well regarded law firm or/and in house experience;
A current Australian practising certificate;
Demonstrable ability to engage with, and manage, both internal and external stakeholders to achieve timely and effective commercial outcomes;
Effective contract negotiation and management skills;
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise important tasks;
Able to anticipate and respond to changes in an effective way within a highly dynamic environment; 
People management experience and a genuine interest in the training and development of junior team members;
A resilient and collaborative professional approach and will be comfortable dealing with ambiguity;
Experience, or a genuine interest in, the supply chain and logistics sector; and
You will demonstrate personal qualities that align with our purpose, values and ways of working.
