Our vision is to create your home assistant, tackling the trillion-dollar home services market around the world. 

Our mission is to take care of homes and the people in them. We’re starting with rebuilding property management by taking care of investment property homes for Australian owners and tenants.

We know what it takes to build a successful startup. :Different has two co-founders with many years of experience in Silicon Valley. Mina was the first Product Manager and ultimately, global Head of Product at Uber. Ruwin was a Principal on Google’s global business strategy team and a Director at Softbank, the world’s largest internet sector investor. Both have deep experience and networks in the technology space.

We’ve raised multiple rounds of capital from top Silicon Valley and Australian VCs. We’ve grown rapidly, operate in three Australian capital cities and have plans to expand further around Australia and into other global markets. 

The role

After growing rapidly out of our Series A fundraise, we are now a team of 90+ globally and will continue our rapid growth over the next six months. We’re now looking for someone to build out our Sydney technology team. Growing our business requires someone who can help us find, recruit and retain the best people. You’ll work closely with our Technology and People & Culture teams to do so. 

You will be looking out for product management, design and engineering talent at all levels for our Sydney office, as well as continually refining our employment brand. As this is a new team, there are many opportunities to grow and hire more people into the team. You’ll report directly to our Head of People & Culture.


Engage prospective candidates by sharing the :Different mission, vision and values in an exciting and motivating way
Expand your network by sourcing both active and passive talent in the market across engineering, product management and design in our Sydney office
Research, select and implement our first ever ATS
Design and document organised and detail-oriented talent acquisition process flows across all our roles at :Different
Screen and filter candidates through an effective ATS
Guide prospective candidates through the interview process, with clear communication during all stages
Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their needs, help them refine their JDs and set expectations appropriately
Creatively advertise and promote our open positions
Actively tune the recruiting and interview process based on feedback from candidates and hiring managers
Data-driven decision making - deeply understand and use the quantitative data around hiring funnels/pipelines and the qualitative feedback from people to hire the best candidates fast

What we’re looking for

An understanding of how cross-functional teams work together to build and ship products
A solid understanding of technical concepts, e.g. Our tech stack, Github, The fundamentals of product management, Product design as a full spectrum of UI, UX, research, & strategy
3 years tech recruitment experience, ideally 1 year in-house in an Australian market
1 year of experience at a technology startup
Comfort with the fast pace of a growing technology startup
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with comfort adapting to the :Different tone of voice
Experience with LinkedIn recruitment tools
