Corporate Underwriter

The Role

You will be accountable for the profitable growth and retention of Intermediated Brokers and Direct Customers and realise financial goals for the Workers’ Insurance Underwriting department. This is a market visible role with expectation to service and grow the portfolio and develop strong relationships with brokers to profitably grow the business.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain effective policy management standards and procedures, including quoting new business and renewals, accurate processing of new business, renewals and adjustments
Underwrite risks in accordance with the delegation/authorities and standards set by the Senior Underwriter
Input Promptly and accurately process new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations of policies in accordance with regulations
General policy maintenance, all information is updated when required
Support the Senior Underwriting with development and implementation of strategies aimed at growing the business
With your Distribution partner, visit your brokers to meet and set working expectations
Actively manage your broker panel to foster relationships at all levels to gain new business development opportunities and ensure retention in line with budget targets
Provide an escalation point for Brokers / Direct Customers to effectively resolve complex customer inquiries and complaints

Skills & Experience

Insurance industry experience preferably within workers compensation
Understanding of insurance portfolio drivers across loss ratio and operating costs
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to communicate with people with different technical backgrounds
Proven capability to achieve operational requirements in a complex and volume environment
Ability to successfully contribute towards the management of an underwriting and sales environment, potential backlogs or slip in service standards
