IN-HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL (Investments & Asset Management) Claremont (Cape Town), Western ProvinceCompetitive Package on Offer!Our client, a Global Private Equity firmis currently expanding theirAfrican Investment Teamand is in search of anexperienced legal professionalto join their dynamic international team.This role will report to the Head of Africa Investments.Work closely with the Africa Investment Team to provide transaction legal support on all legal and regulatory matters related to the execution and financing of their private equity project finance fund projects across Africa. Further to this, build and manage relationships with external legal transaction advisors/counsel working on the companies Africa portfolio projects as well as act as an active participant within the Companies platform, including close cooperation with the Companies legal team, ESG team and Governance teams.You have the proven ability to develop partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders together whilst multi-tasking critical functions within a time sensitive and international transaction environment with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.ResponsibilitiesAct as in-house legal counsel on all Africa transactionsManage the review, negotiation, and implementation of legal documentation, highlighting key risks to the Africa Investment Team, and other stakeholders in a timely manner, and providing appropriate mitigation strategies.Researching, interpreting, and advising on legal issues arising within transactions.Establishing best legal practice and standardising legal documentation through templates as appropriateLegal sign off and advice on documentation in respect of transactions and the transaction compliance checklistAdvise on new market entry and understanding of the local regulatory and contractual structures on the basis of local legal advice and setting up appropriate structures for entryProvides support to the ESG Team with respect to legal issues and compliance with local governmental laws and regulations and ensuring alignment with ESG policiesProvides support to the Governance Team with respect to legal issues and compliance with fund documentation and policiesProcurement of external legal counselManaging external legal counsel and related costsProvision and procurement of relevant legal and governance training to Africa Investment Team membersKeeping abreast of new legislation and amendments to existing legislation within operating portfolioAd hoc projects, as required.Qualifications & ExperienceAt minimum Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB)Admitted attorneyCompleted articles with an international law firm5 to 10 years relevant legal counsel experienceIn depth experience in Project Finance within Africa, with exposure to the renewable energy and/or water sectors requiredLegal expertise within company legislation and regulations affecting the climate finance industryExcellent written and verbal communication skillsFluent in English, French would be a bonusHigh personal drive, resilient and possessing an uncompromising ethical standardAn ability to work within a team as well as independentlyHighly proficient in MS Office suiteTo apply for this role, please contactNicole Spamers:Please upload your CV here--------andAndrea Jones:Please upload your CV here--------Please Note:Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and should you not hear from us within two weeks, then please consider your application unsuccessful.
