Our Plan for is to produce 11% growth.The role assists the team in the sourcing and underwriting of new and renewal business within the South African team and will be based in our Sandton office. You will initially support the underwriting team by delivering a high-quality service whilst developing Chubb specific technical knowledge enabling you to develop and grow underwriting authority. Initially working under the close supervision of line of business management, whilst developing underwriting skills.The team is heavily dependent on 2 authority holders, supported by 2 more junior underwriters and a risk engineer. Our ideal candidate will have at circa 5 years property underwriting experience as well as leadership attributes and the potential to grow into a more senior role within the team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Underwrite new and renewal business according to defined underwriting guidelines and standard methodologies. .Assist with management and development of the portfolio, market profile and producer relationships. This involves regular portfolio monitoring, brokers and/or client liaison and collaboration with business partners and business development resources.Maintain accurate underwriting and policy records within agreed underwriting procedures.Focus on retention of existing business and new business development objectives without compromising underwriting discipline. Contribute to meeting the production and underwriting margin financial objectives and business plans.Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers and be a Chubb Representative: To represent and promote Chubb and maintain a permanent contact with internal colleagues, brokers and major clients.QualificationsREQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:Grade 12 (Matric), Bachelor level business degree or similar is beneficial.Industry related qualification (AIISA or similar) is desirableGood interpersonal, communication & negotiation skills. Competent in Microsoft Office with good excel skills an advantageExpected to undertake on the job training and developmentGood knowledge of property underwriting with a circa 5-years +property underwriting experience.Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions and work on ones own initiative.Social capital and existing relationships within the industry is an advantage.
