Financial Analyst

6 Month Temporary Position Purpose: Financial analysts are responsible for financial planning, analysis, and financial projections. They forecast future revenues and expenditures to establish cost structures and determine capital budgeting for projects. Responsibilities:Financial Appraisals and Portfolio Reports:Analysis of Corporate Financial Statements and other financial reports Appraising new investment proposals (due diligence) and opportunities Commercial analysis, financial model analysis, risk, and institutional analysis Preparing appraisal/credit reports for submission Oversee disbursements to approved projects as well as monitor project progress post investment Reviews and verifies statistical and financial information Cost AnalysisIdentifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts. Reviews budget forecasts and provide sufficient inputs. Reviews internal control environment and provide feedback to projects on weaknesses identified Improves financial status by analyzing results and monitoring variances. Reviews project expenditure including bulk payroll data and supporting evidence reported by projects and recommend actions to Jobs Fund management. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Review junior peoples submissions and provide feedback and mentorship AccountingAnalyzing current and past financial data and performance Identifying trends in financial performance and providing recommendations for improvement. Evaluate projects capital expenditures against JF value for money frameworks Review junior peoples submissions and provide feedback and mentorship Auditing & ComplianceExamines accounting data for accuracy, appropriateness, and documentation Audits document submitted for payment for compliance with Jobs Fund guidelines Prepares and maintains mandated documents as required. Review junior peoples submissions and provide feedback and mentorship Contribution to the Jobs Funds knowledge Agenda through participation in workshops, webinars, learning forums, brownbag Conducting portfolio research to assist the collection and collation of lessons learnt Communications and Technical SupportMaintains communication with staff regarding financial matters Provides information and technical support in the development and revision of policies and regulations Assists in the development of office systems and procedures Promote knowledge management by sharing of technical financial information Reviews proposed contracts for adherence to Jobs Fund policy, existing laws, and regulations Provides support to Jobs Fund staff or programs as a fiscal advisor when necessary Competencies, Skills, and Knowledge:Auditing & Internal Control Project Management Public Sector & Grant / Development Fund Computer Literacy Client Service Orientation Concern for Quality and Order Effective Communication Integrity Honesty Resources Planning Systems Thinking Vision and Purpose Qualifications & Experience:Degree/Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Accounting or Finance or Auditing Minimum of 2 years experience in financial reporting, auditing, and financial analysis.
