Lead: Platform Engineer


*Reference: JHB-MM1-1*Our client, one of the biggest banks in South Africa based in Johannesburg who is a firm believer in technical innovation and leading edge financial solutions is urgently looking for a Lead: Platform Engineer to execute technical, digital, data platform strategies, solutions and roadmaps that encompass the current and future needs of the business, technology and platforms ensuring the integrity, consistency and resilience of platform features and functions across geographies.****This is a working from home opportunity as the banks have not returned to the offices. Most of our clients are talking about a hybrid working model***In order to be considered the following is required:* * Post Graduate Degree in Information Studies or Information Technology * 8 10 years solid integration and information technology background * Knowledge of Agile and Lean frameworks, methods and practices and experience in being a catalyst for organisational change * 8 10 years experience in the full lifecycle design and development covering solution design, application design, development, testing, network software, operating systems, multi-tier environments, middleware and server technology * Prior experience in mobile app integration, micro-services and cloud native application built required ****NOTE****The bank has implemented a Vaccination Policy for all roles which require the incumbent to work from the premises on a full-time or intermittent basis. Full vaccination against COVID-19 is therefore an inherent requirement of this role***Responsibilities:* * Oversee and ensure that the group technology and operations risk management minimum standard is adhered to * Provide strategic direction to the teams by leading and guiding their output and delivery in line with the group strategic plan by participating in strategic road maps and plans * Implement and execute the service strategy for a platform service, typically contributing to a larger capability service with overall client segment, client solutions and country service strategic objectives * Contribute to driving out the platform strategy and technology architecture and lead technology research, evaluation and build efforts in support of the platform * Develop and maintain up to date conceptual, logical and physical architectures of the platform, ensuring these are refreshed and published quarterly * Review the number and severity of incidents and outages, performing trend analysis and investigating root causes and providing input to appropriate information dashboards regarding failure of service and develop plans to mitigate failures * Monitor budgets against expenditure across group and countries and manage information technology costs in line with organisational parameters * Coach the delivery teams, providing quick resolution for problems and give guidance on the removal of roadblocks Information displayed above not limited to advertisement.Please consider your application as unsuccessful if you have not received a response within 14 days of submitting your application.
