The Adviser Proposition teamAdviser Proposition is an analytical team in Retail Distribution which oversees Allan Grays offering to independent financial advice (IFA) businesses. The team reports to the Head of Adviser Proposition who, in turn, reports to the Director and Head of Retail Distribution. Team responsibilities include:Business ownership of Allan Grays technology offering to financial advisersThe direction, articulation, and communication of Allan Grays proposition to financial advisersAnalysis and implementation of projects within IFA DistributionSpecialist support to Distribution and IFA businessesIndustry engagement and change management on regulatory matters impacting the advice marketAlthough individual areas of focus and expertise can differ, the team functions as a collective on aspects including prioritisation, resource allocation, problem solving, and sound boarding.The Specialist role in Adviser PropositionAdviser Proposition consists of Specialists and Business Analysts, with the Business Analysts reporting to the more senior Specialists. While Specialists generally have their own areas of expertise, there is also an expectation that they have, or build, the knowledge and competencies necessary to contribute across several of the aforementioned team functions. Specialists predominantly work with internal stakeholders to identify, analyse, and implement enhancements to the proposition and related processes. Individuals must however be comfortable engaging with external stakeholders in IFA businesses and the broader industry.Experience and academic backgroundFive to ten years of relevant financial industry experience. In addition to having built a sound understanding of the collective investment scheme, investment platform and financial advice markets in South Africa, the individual should be able to demonstrate application thereof in a current or recent role over the past five years.Previous roles and experience which would be beneficial, albeit not all mandatory, include:Business Analysis and IFA engagement within an investment manager or investment platformProvision of financial advice, or working on practice management and operations in an IFA businessConsultation to the investment platform or financial advice industriesThe design, implementation, and adoption of technology used in IFA businessesAcademic backgroundAt least a four year qualification demonstrating a high level of performance. Degrees including, but not limited to, Actuarial Science, Engineering, BComm/BSC with a focus in Finance or Information Technology, or a Masters in Business Administration. Additional areas of study which would be beneficial include CFA, CFP, Lean Six Sigma, and data related courses covering aspects such as SQL or PowerBI.Location1 Silo, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.At Allan Gray, we encourage our people to own their performance through individual accountability.
