About the position: The BD and Sales Executive will play a pivotal role in expanding current acquisition and sales channels as well as identifying and developing new channels and growth opportunities outside the current online offering. Your innovation will be critical to continue to establish the brand.We need an experienced individual with a good understanding of all aspects of a lending business and/or commercial bank, who is results-oriented, clear thinking and always looking to long term commercial value. You will be a public face of the business representing the organisation in thought leadership, seminars, or other public speaking forums.Reporting Structure: Reports to the CEOEXCO RepresentativeThe following functions report directly to this position:Sales and business development personnel, and marketing personnelManaging external ad agency relationshipsIt is important to note that currently only one employee reports into this role. An initial priority for this role will require recruitment and deployment of additional BD/Sales resources mainly in Gauteng and the Cape Town region.Primary Functions and Performance Areas: These are the primary (80% of your efforts) responsibilities for the role.Strategic Leadership - Design and lead an integrated business development and sales strategy and plan, in line with the overall business strategy, which includes establishment of a sales force, market research, competitive analysis, planning, execution and analysis.Own and build relationships with appropriate ad agencies and service providers and manage service level agreements.Business Development - Responsible for driving acquisition of new SME customers and lead generation.Develop and deploy a feet on the ground BD/Sales force to directly engage businesses to source new clients. Effectively expanding our strategy and intake sources from the current digital and ATL channels.Represent the business in public forums, networking events and other as necessary, as a face of the business.Identify opportunities and engage to source new partners, merchants, networks, banks, or other on-line lending platforms through which the company can grow its client base.Recruit and manage marketing personnel to manage, maintain and develop new and existing marketing channels.Oversee the affiliate program. Cultivate (directly or through delegation to team members) relationships with potential affiliates and monitor performance of onboarded affiliates. Ensure consistent and quality support for all referral and business partners.Drive new and existing channel development to sustain business growth.Work with lead generation and acquisition agencies to deliver SME customer growth and engagement in line with targets. Project Management of BD, sales and marketing related projectsDrive all aspects of projects including meeting deadlines, time management, contingency planning, approval channels, and procedures, budgeting, campaign analysis, and monitoring procedures and stakeholder communication.Establish and articulate project scope, strategy and KPIs.Risk Management - Assessing risks to the company relevant to this department and ensuring they are reported on, monitored and minimized. Ensure effective mitigation measures are put in place.Ensure that all department activities are compliant with regulatory frameworks;People Management - Provide visible and clear leadership to the department and any team that you interact/work with, promoting a culture of high performance and customer focus.Provide mentorship to staff to cultivate skills.Financial Management - Regular reporting against department objectives and annual calendarManage (either directly or through delegation to team members) external marketing agencies, website consultants, designers and freelancers and ensure all relevant service providers deliver in terms of their agreementsBudgeting and financial management: Develop, manage and monitor the marketing budgetsPrepare updates, reports and presentations when requestedSecondary Functions and Performance Areas: These are secondary (20% of your efforts) responsibilities for the role. These are either done directly or through delegation.Market research - Regularly provide field-originated market intelligence and feedback regarding trends, industry needs, and customer preferences that assist in marketing and planning of initiatives to develop both new and existing accounts. Utilise this research to propose new channels / directions / products that the business should explore to improve market share.Monitor relevant competitor activity and take appropriate action if required.Marketing campaigns and Communication Initiatives - Evaluate all the marketing campaigns: o setting up targets, o identifying measurement tools and reporting o track trends and use insights to improve effectiveness and efficiency of marketing.Manage the BD, sales and marketing campaigns within approved costs, quality and timelines.Manage ad agencies.Functional Competencies: Strong conceptual skills with the distinct ability to contribute at strategic level and the ability to integrate BD and Sales activities with operational priorities and activities and obtain buy-in from all internal stakeholders.Good experience in credit and lending dealing with SMEs and/or business clientsStrong public speaking skills.Strong networking skills dealing with SMEs and/or business clients.Strong commercial orientation and business acumen.Able to be adaptive within a constantly evolving environment and prioritizing your deliveries according to redefined "most value/simplest solution" outcomes.Experience: Minimum of 10-15 + years in business development and sales, of which at least 5 years in a senior manager/director role capacity and preferably within the lending or banking industries.Behavioral Competencies: Leadership skills, inclusive of the ability to gain credibility and exert influence across various levels within the business.Ability to effect positive change at a rapid rate and to mobilise people in a positive and constructive manner without compromising discipline and control.A results-driven, energetic and passionate personality.Independent implementer and self-starter.High level of interpersonal competency and diplomacy at stakeholder level.Impeccable character in terms of credibility and integrity.High levels of emotional resilience and perseverance to cope and deal with the demands of a fast-moving, multi-task, highly pressurised environment.Strong team-player who will actively contribute and work with the Exco team.Excellent verbal, presentation and report writing communication skills.
