A leading South African manufacturer and marketer of Traditional Sorghum Beer and alcoholic beverages is looking for a Marketing Officer to join their successful team.Role PurposeA custodian for driving short and medium term sustainable, profitable growth at a brand level. You will achieve this by using deep consumer and shopper insights to craft brand/s that consumers love, and by developing compelling brand plans that are delivered through exceptional brand experiences in terms of innovation, communication and activation on a daily basis. This involves articulating and executing the full marketing mix for our brand/s. You will work with the Marketing centres of excellence to optimise pricing, promotions, product innovation, packaging and marketing mix.Duties & ResponsibilitiesROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelops an annual agency brief that articulates the communication media strategies for each assigned brand, pursuant to the brand strategies and plans.Develops and implements the mix elements for the assigned brands.Manages and coordinates a marketing communications programme for each assigned brand through liaising and motivating advertising and research agencies so that they effectively position such brands thereby meeting organisational profit expectations.Develops and controls brand promotional activity programmes and liaises with the General Sales Managers on its implementation.Prepares input on all marketing reports, which include Group Executive Committee Report for the Marketing Director and the Board Package as per HO's instructions.Conducts through the Marketing Services Manager, research on each brand's unique character and relevance so as to maintain demand for the product and its competitiveness on the market.Ensures satisfactory performance of each brand and pack so as to attain a balanced brand portfolio. This entails periodic assessment of the intrinsic product and overall product presentation with respect to size and graphic design.Conducts retail audits to ensure that advertising messages and images developed at corporate level are current. The audit is conducted in the presence of the District Sales Manager or Areas Sales Representative; reporting the results in writing to the Marketing Manager and copied the respective Sales & Distribution Executives.Administers the HO procurement contract with brand agencies.Desired Experience & QualificationQUALIFICATIONSMatrico Completed or in the progress of completing a qualification in Business Studies, Marketing, B.Com or similaro 4 years in the marketing fieldo 2 3 years experience in a similar positionwithin the FMCG sectoro Good verbal and written communication skillso Work effectively under stringent deadline and produce accurate resultso Work independently, exercising effective judgement and initiativeo Systematic, hands on and innovative approaches to all facet of his/her workEXPERIENCEWell-rounded consumer goods experience spanning Marketing and preferably Customer rolesConsumer obsession and insights-driven a thirst for understanding how consumers operate within your category and use that to drive strategy and decision makingStrategic savviness and financial acumen with the ability to shape a plan to grow your category, drive its execution, and understand the trade-offs involved in pulling various leversCross functional team managementBrand management and Cycle Planning experienceStrong strategic marketing experienceA real focus and demonstrated track record around creating the conditions for people to succeed; the candidates for these roles should be some of our best coaches and people managers.Demonstrated strength in managing the external environment as the individuals in these roles typically act as the face of the company in very large markets.The strategic skills to be able to reframe the business and develop plans to beat the competition.Translate marketing insights and analysis of key issues and opportunities into clear & compelling Brand Plans - detailing execution of Category Strategy, Pricing & Channel Strategy, Promotions Plan and Innovation Plan to deliver agreed growth agenda (volume, value, profit)Identify, define, develop, deliver & track insight-driven innovation and renovation that is accretive to the brand and category (volume, value, profit).
