Restaurant at a Wine Estate close to Stellebosch is looking for an Assistant Sommelier to suggest suitable wines to pair with dishes on the menu that fits their tastes and complement their food. Training of other restaurant staffEnsure presentation and temperature of all drinks are correctEnsure that wine service area is set up and ready for serviceEnsure that there is enough stock and equipmentEnsure all equipment is in working order & report if notConduct temperature checksEnsure all decanters are clean and in good repairEnsure a minimum loss through breakage, waste, theft and incorrect ordersMonthly stocktake of beverages and managing a healthy beverage cost Promote guest satisfactionRequirements: Grade 12Certificate from WSET Level 1/ Cape Wine Academy/ South African Sommelier associationPreferably 2 years wine tasting experienceKnowledge of wines - grape varieties and regions, harvest times, climates, soils and wine making process and being able to communicate and explain this to guestsPassionate about wine and the hospitality industryApplicable product knowledgeExcellent interpersonal- & communication skillsStrong customer service orientationAbility to maintain a professional working relationship with all departments
