Software Technical Support Consultant (TASK:)Package: R20k to R30k per month total cost to company depending on experience.Job FunctionsProvide technical & product (software) support to clients of WorkPool, an International Software Vendor. Support provided remotely via the internet, email and phone. Core responsibilities: - Assist users with technical and toolset support - Server and System installations (Linux & Windows) - Update & maintain cloud based and standalone servers (after hours) - Liaise with development team to resolve problems or attend special requests - Infrastructure support (monitoring, backups, hardware and software maintenance) - Must be available after hours to monitor systems and act in case of emergencies - Will be required to work shifts from time to timeGrowth OpportunitiesGain in depth practical experience on Linux server environments, including virtualization and security. Opportunity to grow into system administration, technical consulting, projects, etc. Training will be provided; HOWEVER you must be a fast learner and be able to self-study. Must be able to remember and apply what you have learned. Perform well under pressure.Key Performance Areasa) Customer support: - Problem solving and assisting customers with their questions relating to our product via phone or email - Logging and managing incoming requests (jobs/tickets) - Provide feedback to customers or management on the status of their requests - Monitoring of systemsb) Installation and Support of Servers: - Installation of servers according to predefined processes - Updating servers with patches or new versions after hours - Disaster recoveries. - Writing basic database scripts (SQL) - Documenting bugs/changes. - Assisting with documentation.Qualifications and Experience - Must know Windows and MS Office products, popular browsers, etc. - Must have experience in dealing with clients and logging requests - Solid understanding of Networking, Protocols, Routers, Remote Desktop, etc. - Linux experience is a definite bonus - SQL experience is a bonus - Applicable I.T. certification/s will count in your favour.Please note:-
