The Job:

We are delighted to be assisting them with their vacancy for a Category Manager. This role is reporting to the Head of Product Management, this is a commercial role sharing responsibility for the strategic direction and business performance of category management for our clients key accounts and OEM product portfolio. Working closely with the Retail sales team, key activity include regular detailed account performance analysis to identify opportunities to maximise product mix via range reviews and deliver product offer trade up to drive profitable growth. Successful candidate will build robust relationships both internally and externally to coordinate all aspects of a range review including customer and market research, competitor analysis, product development, display, merchandising, pricing and marketing to exceed customer expectations. Ability to gain key stakeholder buy-in, drive ROI rationale and working to tight timeframes is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for key financial deliverables including: £GSV / £SGM / SGM% / product mix / cost management
  • Support the development of strategic product category plans outlining business direction and objectives
  • Regular performance reviews, making suitable recommendations based on analysis and strategic insight
  • Constant review of market trends and the competitive landscape
  • Create and present regular market and portfolio reports
  • In-depth market knowledge of macro environment and our end users within all distribution channels
  • Support channel management with key account reviews / sell in of NPD – as category expert

The Person:

For this role they are looking for someone who has gained experience as a Category Manager

  • Understanding of buying groups and merchants
  • Strong analytical skills, with a proven ability to convert to actionable insights
  • Understanding and promoting the needs of the consumer via B2B relationships
  • Detail orientated and a passion for strategic planning
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders (internally and externally)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring internal and external deadlines are met
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels

The Location:


Cheddar, Somerset (2-3 days in the office)

The Hours:

Monday – Friday 37.5 hours week

The Salary:

£26-28,000
