Role Overview for VP Software Engineering:
We are looking for an experienced VP of Engineering to help manage the next generation of digital products. This is a highly visible and challenging role and will be a key driver towards building a customer centric and digital first approach - it is a great opportunity to make a significant creative impact.
As the VP Engineering you will lead a team of 6 including developers and engineers, collaborating withProduct and Design, and improving company policies and standards. Your role will encompass a number of key projects with a particular focus on growing the data offering and supporting internationalisation of the product.
Key Responsibilities for VP Software Engineering:
- Leading the team through management and mentorship.
- Contributing to recruitment activities.
- Driving collaboration with other wider company engineering teams to drive tech sharing, mutually beneficial workflows and strong business outcomes.
- Developing standards &procedures to ensure that quality standards are met.
- Preparing and optimizing budgets.
- Recommending technological developments and improvements in inefficiency.
- Developing the team to ensure quality end products.
- Resolving any areas of technical debt and ensuring that all development is carried out in a scalable and sustainable manner.
- You are a connector, working hard to ensure people and projects are not inadvertently siloed or silenced
Your Experience:
To be successful as an VP of Software Engineering you should have prior organisational leadership experience, be able to collaborate with team members, and be a strategic problem-solver.
Ultimately the VP of Engineering should demonstrate excellent communication skills, an ability to connect with other engineers and developers, and have a solid foundation in software design.
Youll need:
- Engineering or similar degree (ideally).
- Strong organisational and leadership skills.
- Ideally some previous architecture experience would be nice to have.
- Extensive experience in working with stakeholders to create hiring strategies to develop quality teams.
- Previous working experience in software design and developing customer-oriented platforms.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Must be knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices, and change management.
- Strong programme management skills.
- Ability to develop machine learning algorithms.
- Understanding of .Net and newer innovation led industry technologies would be great.
