Stores Controller / Stores Person


Our client is a world class, award winning, established and growing engineering/manufacturing business, with strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant. Due to continued growth, they are recruiting for an experienced storekeeper.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and efficient operation of its stores to support its manufacturing operations to satisfy customer deadlines. The storekeeper is responsible for ensuring materials and consumables are, receipted, kitted, and issued to production departments accurately and promptly to meet manufacturing schedules.

The role demands a high level of organisation, to complete a range of jobs, whilst helping to ensure the smooth running of the manufacturing process within the factory. The storekeeper will report to the Production Manager through weekly reports and interact with all production departments. The daily duties of the role will include receiving goods in, booking goods into stock, and ensuring stock quantities are always available for current workloads.


Update and maintain accurate stock records in the companys MRP system.

Receiving goods in from customers and suppliers.

Acceptance, checking and reordering of all delivered goods into stock and generation of goods inward documentation.

Record material certification and batch numbers for traceability through the manufacturing process.

Ensure all received stock is undamaged and that everything ordered is present and accounted for, informing production, and purchasing admin of any discrepancies.

Kitting and issuing master models, tools, components, and materials to the shop floor as specified by the job card to meet the manufacturing schedule.

Ensure all masters and tools are returned, recorded and are either stored or disposed of as per company policy/procedure.

Stocktake, including cycle counts of materials and consumables, informing production and purchasing admin of potential shortages which could disrupt the manufacturing process.

Develop and maintain valuable supplier relationships.

Follow company procedures and standards.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Maintain a tidy and organised storage area, including satellite storage areas within departments.

Reporting into management on focus, activity, and performance.


  • Clean Driving licence.
  • Valid forklift license with experience.
  • A high level of health and safety awareness.
  • Understanding of chemical and hazardous material storage compliance.

Details of Package:

£21,000 to £25,000 PA + Overtime + Benefits (Up to £12 PH + Overtime) The storekeeper will work 8:00 - 16:30 Monday - Thursday and 8:00 - 15:30 Friday. Flexibility is needed to meet customer demands.
