Lifestyle Support Worker

An exciting position has become available for a Lifestyle Support Worker covering the Birmingham, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield areas. The successful candidate will earn £9.80ph (unqualified) to £10.02ph (qualified).

You will be responsible for delivering the tasks agreed with the client on a one to one basis either in their home or the community and oversee their safety, comfort and well-being at all times. You will also act as a Keyworker for the client.

You will work on a flexi month system between 25 35 hours per week. Flexibility may be required to work evenings until 7pm.

Role Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care Required to achieve within 2yrs of being in post (cost apportioned equally between employer and employee)
  • Good standard of reading and writing.
  • A friendly manner with neat and clean appearance.
  • Able to push a wheelchair, aid clients with mobility and personal care if needed.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated to learn and develop own knowledge of brain injury and competence.
  • Must have access to own car with business insurance.
  • UK resident.

Role Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Plan, prepare and deliver tasks within the agreed User Plan for individuals.
  • Assist users in their chosen tasks in the home in order to help them reach full potential.
  • Assist and motivate users in the community at their chosen activity.
  • Encourage re-learning, use of strategies and risk controls at all times with the client.
  • Accurately complete all client documents.
  • Assist users as required to ensure that they are safe, comfortable and their needs are met.
  • Ensure the tasks/activities are reviewed and updated as part of the ongoing monitoring process.
  • Ensure clients are supported/supervised at all times; anticipating and responding to daily occurrences that may put at risk the safety of clients or staff. E.g. changes in behaviour, epilepsy, accidents or threats.
  • Drive the client and/or travel with the client as agreed and ensure their safety in the vehicle and with transferring.
  • Ensure the clients personal needs are attended to appropriately.
  • Ensure client Risk Assessments and Care Plans are updated as required
  • Be flexible to suit the needs of the post and work fairly with the team as required, including taking turns in small extra duties, requests outside of normal hours or waiting for late taxis etc.

They offer a wide programme of activities and specialist services aimed at recovery and social rehabilitation. They also work with the whole family and professionals to provide information, hospital link work, community enablement and the opportunity to join social events with others going through similar experiences.
