What is the role?

We are looking for committed and experiencedSenior Residential Support Workerswho will be part of support service for our Residential premise which accommodates young people and will provide childcare of the highest standard, ensuring our services are operated in compliance with the requirements of regulation and legislation.

You will work in an empowering, respectful, and empathetic way to promote healthy relationships, encourage achievements and to be a positive role model for restorative care and individual growth.

Key Responsibilities-

  • To undertake a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement.
  • To give guidance and support to all Residential Workers.
  • To be responsible for the supervision of designated members of staff and to record this on the LOVE Supervision form, sending the supervisee a copy and keeping in the supervisees folder.
  • To raise any concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate.

Key Tasks

  • To plan, manage and lead shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day.
  • To ensure the Care Planning documents for each child is always followed and adhered to.
  • To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each childs attendance in education is maintained.

In support

  • To ensure that all staff act in a professional manner. You lead by example acting as a positive role model.
  • To ensure all policies and procedures are always adhered to.
  • To ensure that all staff comply with the rota, any changes made are communicated to staff, in a timely and respectful manner.
  • To ensure that all staff read the Communication Book to check all messages at the beginning of work, contributed towards with information at any point during the working day.
  • To ensure the daily logbook is frequently updated during the shift
  • To ensure that all staff have written up any incident / accident forms as applicable within the 24-hour timescale
  • To ensure the registered manager is informed of any incidents taken place in the service, so they can notify the CI within 24-hour timescale
  • To ensure staff have had a de-brief after an incident whether this be by the manager/senior/ or staff member not involved in the incident
  • To ensure that all staff are familiar with and follow LOVE Child Protection Procedures.
  • To report immediately to the Registered Manager any issues regarding Child Protection matters.
  • To ensure that all staff always maintain confidentiality No use of a Whats app group permitted to be used to discuss the service.
  • To ensure any in house issues are communicated with the staff member it concerns directly, no use of blanket email
  • To assist or undertake effective supervisions as required.
  • To offer advice and encouragement to staff about individual training needs inform Registered Manger of service training needs
  • To ensure that all staff under their supervision undertake and complete training in accordance with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) their induction training schedule.
  • To raise any concerns regarding an individual member of staffs progress or attitude with the Registered Manager (if serious) or at the member of staffs next supervision.

What we need from you?

  • Should have over 3 years of experience working with young people in a residential setting or youth offending
  • An SVQ3 or above in social care or equivalent is essential
  • An understanding of the role of Senior Residential Support Worker
  • An understanding of GIRFEC and curriculum of excellence is desirable
  • An understanding of the principles of safeguarding and Child Protection legislation
  • The ability to form professional and positive relationships
  • Good physical health and high level of emotional resilience
  • Experience and understanding in dealing with challenging situations
  • Commitment to the principle of continuing professional development and working towards achieving necessary qualifications
  • A valid UK driving license and access to your own vehicle with a full business insurance for car
  • Please note that this position is subject to a full PVG check

Job Type:Permanent/ FT- 37.5 hours a week

Shift Pattern:early and late day shifts with 5 over 7 days a week including working alternate weekends
