Communications and Marketing Officer

We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Officer to join the growing and dynamic team at FACT.

FACT was formed in 1983 to protect the content, product and interests of the film and television industries and is regarded as a leader in intellectual property (IP) protection. From its roots in IP FACT now also encompasses sector leading services in investigations, due diligence and forensics, with global coverage and clients including major broadcasters, sports rights owners, telecoms operators, international law firms and a number of governments.

FACTs investigations services provide strategic and tactical solutions to clients to protect revenues from fraud and other crimes, supported by intelligence and digital forensics experts. Our due diligence services provide clients with detailed information so they can make informed decisions. We provide bespoke approaches to suit individual circumstances, support commercial objectives and protect organisational reputation and revenue.

The Communications and Marketing Officer will occupy a pivotal role, assisting in the development and implementation of FACTs communication strategy to maximise awareness of all of FACTs activities, help to drive new business and revenue, maintain the profile of the FACT brand, and strengthen communication with clients and strategic partners. This includes traditional PR and media, social media, marketing, and events, along with some internal communications.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to work on a broad range of activities, in a successful and growing business, reporting directly to senior management, and would suit an ambitious, organised self-starter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the promotion of work carried out on behalf of a wide range of global clients including Sky, BT Sport, Premier League and Virgin Media
  • Maintain relationships with client contacts, serve as first point of contact for communications and media support and chair monthly PR meetings
  • Work with client communications contacts to develop and implement creative consumer campaigns
  • Deliver high profile PR campaigns achieving national, regional and trade coverage across TV, radio, print and online
  • Develop opportunities to promote FACT and its activities through the creation and organisation of events, webinars and meetings and manage invitations, guest lists and marketing materials
  • Work with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer to develop opportunities to promote FACT in the media, develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with journalists. Source opportunities for filming and official comment
  • Work with the Business Development Manager to identify new income streams and business leads and develop materials to support those activities
  • Maintain the companys branding and marketing strategy
  • Manage FACTs website and social media presence and develop these channels to promote the companys work; engage with the public, media, potential new clients and industry partners
  • Research and curate content including blog posts for FACTs website
  • Actively monitor current relevant news and industry trends and produce weekly newsletter for staff
  • Increase the reach and impact of FACTs profile and visibility through the delivery of high value and influential marketing, communications and PR in the UK and internationally
  • Manage the day-to-day press office including drafting press releases and dealing with media enquiries
  • Develop and manage relationships with key partners in the creative industries and government
  • Help to produce reports and presentations for the organisation and the board

The Person:


  • Have previous experience in a similar role working in PR and or communications in a services business
  • Experience in developing and implementing PR and social media and campaigns
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and managing relationships with external stakeholders
  • Experience of representing organisations at events, meetings, boards, workshops and groups
  • Experience in managing a press office including drafting press releases, dealing with media enquiries and TV and radio interviews
  • Marketing experience including events management, production of materials and promotional items


  • Experience in intellectual property and/or anti-piracy, brand protection or content protection advantageous
  • An interest in international politics, finance, crime and security would be beneficial
