Blaymires Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist Facades Contractor based near Romsey, who is searching for a Design Manager.

The contractor undertakes a variety of rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, steel framing systems, insulated render, and wall panelling projects across the South with an annual turnover of 9 million.

The successful candidate will have experience working within the cladding or faade sector and will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of the design process.

The Role

As Design Manageryou will be responsible for the whole department and will manage a team of 6 designers who will be responsible for the delivery of design activities across multiple cladding and facade projects.

The successful candidatewill be required to drive efficiency and rigour in technical delivery by providing cross-programme co-ordination and technical leadership across the division.

You will be responsible for driving design excellence in the fields of sustainability and health and safety, ensuring that risks are mitigatedin the design process.

This position is part of the senior management team and will suit either a Design Manager or Design Director who is looking for a long-term opportunity to assist in the growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical resources are managed effectively by working with the Director to co-ordinate the design resource.
  • Be responsible to ensure project/design outputs are produced on time andto a high specification.
  • Ensure required quality checking/approval procedures are carried out.
  • Develop simple, effective technical delivery processes to improve the production of design deliverables to time/cost/quality requirements.
  • Undertake the Designer (CDM 2015) duties on behalf of the company and ensure the company complieswith the requirements of CDM 2015.
  • Embrace the importance of health andsafety in all circumstances and lead by example in this area.
  • Apply and reinforce designs standards.
  • Drive efficiency in the design programmes.
  • Promote best practice and support the team through workload visibility and planning design management.

Key Skills and Requirements

  • Understanding of the Installation of Cladding and Curtain Walling systems.
  • Organised and proficient use of AutoCAD or Rhino CAD would be preferable.
  • Leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent spoken, written and drawing communication skills(both hand and CAD).
  • Understanding the applications of sustainable and interior design.
