Civil CAD Technician

Civil Engineering CAD Technician - up to 30k - hybrid working potential – excellent package

We have been asked to find a top-quality CAD Technician in the engineering industry. The company is one of the world’s leading providers of specialised subsea pipeline protection systems. With its headquarters in Suffolk, the company has manufacturing bases around the globe.

Role Summary:

  • To work with the Technical Design Manager and Projects Engineers to draw up designs for company structures, client projects and development projects and the Technical Design Manager to provide solutions for projects, developments and enquiries.
  • To be responsible for the technical library and ensure it is up to date at all times.
  • To develop knowledge and understanding of the sector and business.
  • To as required provide assistance to:- - Prepare quotes and bids via the Enquiries database process as required.
  • To liaise with Client and 3rd Party Technical teams to win and convert these bids and quotes into projects, provide project assistance and develop good relationships.
  • Develop the ability to help in overseeing with hands on management (structural on Site) where required of projects in the UK and overseas.
  • To manage other areas of the business ie IT/Website/social media as required

  • Technical drawings.
  • Technical Library responsibility.
  • Research and Development involvement

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • To provide good, technically correct, precise drawings for structural and equipment designs.
  • To translate engineering concept into workable designs for company development and clients’ projects.
  • To ensure all technical enquires are handled using the most efficient and appropriate solution for the client and the company.
  • To ensure that the technical library is always up to date and has the relevant information recorded against each product drawing.
  • All assigned enquiries are responded to, deadlines are met and budgets/costs are provided to client as required and that directors and all relevant colleagues are updated regularly on status as appropriate for the smooth running of the business and best practice.
  • To ensure projects are delivered /mobilized at best cost, on-time and in accordance with client and company specifications.
  • To manage supplier costs and seek best value for project expenditure

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

  • 3 – 5 years industry experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Civil Engineering experience.
  • Customer/project account handling.
  • Positive approach and work ethic.
  • Works under own initiative.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite.


Starting salary £27-30k pa.
