SEN Classroom support assistant

We are looking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to support students at our specialist SEN schools in the Sheffield, South Yorkshire district . The schools caters to students with a variety of complex needs and learning difficulties, including dyslexia, communication and social interaction difficulties, and autism spectrum condition (ASC).

Responsibilities include:

Providing general classroom support to teachers

Providing care and support to students with various SEN

Managing challenging behaviour when necessary

Small group work and 1:1 support where needed

Providing personal care (only if you have the training and are happy to do so)

Implementing individual learning plans for SEN students

Following Safeguarding procedures in line with the schools policies

We are looking for someone with:

An interest in and knowledge of SEN

A passion for working with children

A Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant recent experience

Flexibility and adaptability

A caring nature

A positive and energetic attitude

Availability to work immediately after the vetting process- you will need to be available a couple days per week 8:30am to 3:30pm

The role of a learning support assistant is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to pupils lives and their experience of school, especially those who have become disengaged from education. You will be required to have a background or enthusiasm with education, and be willing to support in classes, assisting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning and dealing with behavioural issues.

All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service. (DBS refund after working 30 shifts)

***If you do not hold a current Enhanced child DBS check, there is a fee of £55 to obtain a new Enhanced child workforce DBS check through personnel checks - this is refunded upon request after 30 completed shifts with Education world***

?Working hours - Schools are open Mon - Fri (during term time) - a full day starts generally from 8:30am - 3:30pm please make sure you can commit to these hours before you apply - Schools are not open in the evenings or at weekends

Holiday pay is calculated at 12.07% of your hourly rate holiday pay will be wrapped into your agreed day rate and paid collectively on a weekly basis.
