Lead Scientist - Physics - Up to 90k - Oxford

We are looking for a Lead Scientist to join a rapidly expanding Oxford University start up and become a key part of a growing team working on solving complex physics problems. You will be collaborating with a talented team of scientists and engineers on ground-breaking experiments in their Oxford facility.

As a Lead Scientist, you will:

  • Use hydrodynamic and magneto-hydrodynamic codes on new and existing experiments
  • Run simulations to further understand the dynamics and processes at work
  • Provide expert knowledge and technical support to colleagues to aid in their experimental designs
  • Use Python to analyse results and identify trends


Experience required for a Lead Scientist includes:

  • A PhD or equivalent industry experience in research and development
  • An in-depth knowledge of shock physics, inertial fusion physics and/or quantum physics
  • Use of simulation tools to design and develop Multiphysics based systems
  • The ability to work effectively in a team of scientists and engineers to solve complex problems
  • Desirable experience in machine learning, software engineering, C++ and Fortran
