Introduction:
Our client is a manufacturer of biologically active compounds for the Pharmaceutical and Life-Science industries. The facility, based in Leicestershire, UK., boasts over 10,000 square feet of state-of-the-art laboratories, and comprises of cGMP manufacturing suites which allow for the manufacture of drug substances to drug products. The company has a special focus on the design, manufacture and analysis of synthetic peptides and small molecules. All aspects of manufacturing are conducted from the facility.

With the increasing focus on peptide therapeutics, our client offers a complete solution to industry, by supplying these biologically active compounds for pre-GMP research studies through to cGMP manufacture. The facility is fully equipped with the latest state-of -the-art equipment to be able to facilitate its ability to successfully offer these services.

This is a unique opportunity for a Graduate Chemist to join a pharmaceutical company as a production/purification chemist.

Job responsibilities include:
* Undertake routine purification/ analysis of biologically active compounds prior to release.
* Use a wide range of analytical and scientific techniques for compound purification (e.g., semi-preparative HPLC, Ion-Exchange, etc.) and analysis (e.g., HPLC, UPLC and Mass spectrometry)
* Tracking/trending of data.
* Involved with the manufacture of synthetic peptides
* Involved with GMP manufacturing activities
* Writing SOPs and reports
* Ensuring that data is recorded accurately in accordance with the relevant regulatory guidelines
* Observing high health and safety standards

Qualifications and training required:
* A relevant degree qualification in chemistry. Experience in organic/ analytical chemistry would be an advantage.
* Work experience in a related area would be desirable although training will be provided for right candidate.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Accurate recording and filing of data
* Good organisational skills
* Good attention to detail
* Good time keeping
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
* Work well within a team
* Able to work with minimal supervision
* Ability to work to company quality standards
