Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Our Finance team have some fantastic progression stories, and yet again they have a great new opportunity available due to internal progression in this department. The Head of FP&A is truly the financial heartbeat of our organization. This role leads on financial modelling processes and provides rich commercial insights and analysis to support excellent strategic, tactical and operational decision making across the business.

Offering a hybrid working arrangement, you can expect to be based in the Bexhill office 1-2 days a week, where the Finance department and your key stakeholders are predominantly based.

Who you will work with

You will have broad business exposure. Acting as both a partner in all aspects of Finance Leadership to senior leaders across the business. Team wise, you will report into the CFO, work in close partnership with the Finance Director, lead 6 direct reports, and, oversee a team of 18 overall which includes the Financial Modelling, Management Reporting and Business Partnering teams.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the role partners with the Executives and Directors across the business to develop finance strategy and challenges the detailed financial plans which underpin them.

What you can expect to be accountable for

  • Building strong working relationships (based on sound commercial and technical acumen, across the disciplines of underwriting, claims management, commercial / retail and operations) with Executives and Directors across the organisation to underpin strong financial partnering and trusted financial insight
  • Directing the Business Partnering Function in providing first-class, well-reasoned and robust challenge, insight, support, and analysis to all stakeholder groups
  • Owning the development of all financial performance and analytical reporting for the executive committee and board meetings, providing both big-picture financial insight and rich detail into unlock group performance
  • Delivering all performance reporting and planning analysis to stakeholders across the senior leadership team to challenge underperformance and drive ever stronger financial performance
  • Delivering product-level profitability reporting
  • The production of robust business area analysis across income, underwriting, indemnity spend and operation costs
  • Monitoring of Financial KPI's and operating trends against targets and regularly communicate with senior leadership teams, identifying and developing key actions based on KPI's to drive decision making
  • Development and delivery of frequent, time-pressured ad hoc models to analyse multiple scenarios and offer recommendations to deliver short term and long-term value
  • Development of Group-wide planning systems and reporting platforms

What you will bring to the role

You are;

  • An experienced Qualified Accountant - (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, equivalent accepted) with a proven track record in adding both operational and strategic value to organisations in an FP&A setting
  • A critical thinker with a keen eye for detail
  • A supportive and motivational leader, who inspires their team to deliver and bring new ideas to the table

You have;

  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to flex your style to suit your audience
  • Exceptional financial analysis and business partnering experience with deep and broad insurance industry knowledge, able to influence stakeholders at the senior levels
