With head office based within easy commute from the M65 and local train stations, they are recruiting for an experienced Rent Accountant to join their central finance function. A business who have many revenue streams, and one who have benefited from recent change to leadership, they are offering a unique opportunity to be part of a dedicated function in delivering an effective Rent Accounting service to the Housing Association.

Salary and Enhanced Benefits include:
Salary up to £38,000 p.a. plus excellent benefits. Working week consisting of 36.25 hours, hybrid + flexible working, 28 days holiday + bank holidays, plus healthcare support and more.

Your new role as Rent Accountant:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this key role will focus on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the rent accounts across the Group, supporting the delivery of an effective rent accounting service for the Housing Associations tenants. Supported by a transactional officer, you shall look to develop the process and enhance procedure, enabling further efficiencies.

Main Role Duties:
Responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of the rent ledgers ensuring these are accurate and up to date within the Finance and Housing Management systems
Provide support for the annual rent review process for both rents and service charges whilst ensuring compliance with the Rent Standard
Responsible for ensuring adequate financial controls are in place including rent control account reconciliations
Managing and maintaining relationships with the Housing Benefit teams to resolve queries and ensure lead schedules are received and posted onto the systems on a timely basis
Liaising and working collaboratively with the Income Collection team to support the achievement of their aims and objectives
Delivering excellent service to customers and colleagues across the Group

Experience & Qualifications Required to apply:

To be considered you shall either be working towards or have attained a formal qualification relevant to this role or be qualified by experience having gained the skills and knowledge from a past position which matched the requirements above. You shall maintain a solid understanding of rent accounting and rent setting processes for housing, and have knowledge of welfare reform rules and any other relevant legislation. This is a niche position in the housing sector so this understanding is important to add value in a role where you will also add value through your experience of process and procedural enhancement.
