Your new role

Reporting to the CEO and leading a small team you will support the board of directors in developing and implementing financial and commercial strategy. As Finance Director you will be responsible for the development and management of the financial infrastructure, systems and processes for the Group to ensure its financial viability. This includes financial planning, budgeting, financial controls/audit, management accounting & reporting, cost accounting and payroll.

Working with the CEO you will contribute to the formulation and delivery of strategy for the business, through financial planning, budgeting and effective and timely forecasting of financial performance to senior managers and the Board. You will manage the finance team and control all financial systems, process and transactions, particularly ensuring that high-quality and timely management and cost accounting information is routinely prepared and supplied to managers, the CEO and Board. In consultation with the CEO and Commercial team, you will improve the financial framework in order to provide robust commercial information and measure performance and ensure an effective internal and external audit process is in place with regular reporting to the Board.

You will prepare the annual financial accounts, liaise with the statutory auditors and ensure requirements of HMRC are met and ensure the continued modernisation of the infrastructure, systems, policies and procedures across the Finance Team and particularly to ensure that the ERP/ financial system is used to enable the CEO and Board to make informed financial and commercial decisions.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience operating at a senior level in finance within the manufacturing sector. You will need to have a hands on approach as well be able to understand and pro actively support strategy. Excellent understanding of financial planning, taxation, cash management, budgeting and reporting is a must as well as experience of managing a P&L, especially investment cases and the trade-offs between driving sales growth and maintaining / enhancing profitability.
