SHEQ Assistant

Job Description
Cubed Talent are recruiting on behalf of our engineering client based in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, for a SHEQ Assistant, to support the SHE Manager.

General duties:
To undertake the role of SHEQ Assistant, the ideal candidate must work in an efficient manner and in compliance with current standards, regulatory and legislative requirements and the Business Management System.
You must be able to communicate in a friendly, helpful and non-prejudicial manner in dealing with other colleagues, clients and / or customers as you will be regarded as a representative of your department as well as the Company.
To promote SHEQ awareness and assist in driving culture change to achieve the business KPIs and strategy.
Continually look to improve current systems using initiative and working as part of a team.

Requirements:

Ideally the candidate will have a background within Health, Safety or Environment, with a formal qualification in Health, Safety or environment desirable, however this is not essential as training will be provided.
Excellent IT skills including the use of Word, Excel and Outlook are essential.
Good organisational and communication skills are essential.

Main Duties:

To include, but not be restricted to, the following duties:
  • Assisting the SHE Manager with all administrative aspects of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management.
  • Monitoring of corrective action reports, highlighting any concerns to the SHE Manager and chasing outstanding reports from employees.
  • Taking comprehensive notes at the Health, Safety, Environmental meetings and producing a typed report of each meeting.
  • Filing and organisation of all Health, Safety, Environmental paperwork.
  • Assisting the SHE Manager to promote Health, Safety, Environmental best practice in the work place, including keeping all notice boards up to date.
  • Assisting the SHE Manager with the writing of risk assessments.
  • Producing COSHH assessments, safety alerts and toolbox talks whilst keeping records up to date.
  • Keeping accident stats up to date and accurate.
  • Assist in the identification of need and preparation of risk assessments & safe systems of work and update where required.
  • Assist in Workshop SHEQ inspections and follow up any actions.
Competencies

Essential:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to manage and coordinate projects and associated management systems
  • Interest in a career in Health, Safety and Environment
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications at intermediate level
Desirable:
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualified
  • CSCS Visitors card
  • Previous auditing experience
  • Ability to recognise and implement changes to legal and legislative requirements
Salary & Benefits
  • £19-22,000pa DOE (37.5 hour working week)
