Health And Safety Compliance Manager

Our client, Compass Engineering, is an established, family owned design and build steelwork contractor for distribution warehouses and low rise structures. With their head office based in Barnsley they design and manufacture structural steel solutions for installation throughout the UK, principally for the warehouse, distribution and industrial sectors.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health And Safety Compliance Manager to join their team. With responsibility for the management and implementation of systems and procedures to lead the business on H & S and Compliance whilst driving forward best practice across the factory and construction site functions.

Duties will include:

  • Support the technical, factory production and site installation teams to ensure they are audit ready at all times.
  • Experience in the compliance, management and delivery of our H & S Policy, ISO18001/ISO45001, Factory Production Control/UKCA quality systems and relevant Statutory Requirements.
  • Practical inspection and assessment of work in progress with corrective action and follow-up plans.
  • Ability to close out any non-conformance to deliver improvements.
  • Proactive lead on in-house training, championing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Continuous review and development of Quality, Health, Safety and environment strategies and policies working closely with line managers.

Applicants need to be able demonstrate success in a similar role, ideally gained in a fabrication/heavy engineering environment. A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is highly desirable along with practical and proactive skills. An ability to drive compliance and improvements to our established systems and introduce new ideas through employee engagement and continuous improvement. Team working skills are essential to ensure everyone within the business is on board.
