Health & Safety Officer

Working alongside the H&S manager we are looking for a strong Health & Safety Officer to work at our clients Papermill in Lancaster.

Being based at one of their smaller sites you will need to be a strong communicator ensuring that all aspects of Health & Safety are implemented.

You will support and carry responsibility to help investigate accidents, near misses, incident prevention and writing reports and in return, for the right candidate, our client offers career progression.

This is a great opportunity to join a leading global manufacturing business and you will need to have experience within Health & Safety but our client may consider a graduate that is at the start of their career.

Duties of a Health and Safety Officer:
  • Carry out investigations into accidents and incidents inline with group procedure.
  • Ascertain route causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Draft and implement the safety procedures.
  • Advise & train employees and contractors on how to minimise or avoid hazards
  • Assess the compliance of the machinery, plant and facilities to ensure they meet legislation.
  • Participate in Safety meetings.
  • Promote a safety bound culture.

Skills and experienced required to become a successful Health and Safety Officer:
  • Membership of IOSH
  • Environmental Qualification would be advantageous.
  • Diploma in Environmental Management or IEMA Certificate / Diploma
  • Previous experience within a Manufacturing setting, ideally within an heavy industry.
Benefits to you of a Health and Safety Officer:
  • £32,000- £35,000 DOE
  • Monday – Friday 8.30am- 4.30pm
  • 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
