BASIC PURPOSE:

Senior graphic designer is responsible for the creation of a wide variety of visual assets in all media including print, video, web and interactive. Projects include national consumer and trade Advertising, brochures, and collateral, direct mail pieces, logos, branding and social media. Coordinate and communicate effectively with business owners, marketing reps, creative director and writers to ensure that the visual design successfully delivers the desired message and business objectives.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a senior graphic designer will develop extremely high quality and sophisticated original creative concepts for print, digital and interactive media that reflect strategy and are compliant with Norwegians brand.
  • Manipulate and colour correct photography in Photoshop according to brand guidelines.
  • Create a range of high-quality collateral pieces from new ship inaugural materials to brochures.
  • Design, plan and test web based (HTML) projects including PR campaigns, e-marketing micro sites and email promotions and newsletters.
  • Collaborate with Senior Designers and Copywriters to ensure all work is consistently meeting creative brand standards.
  • Effectively manage projects and workload on a variety of projects from simple to complex multichannel campaigns.
  • Ability to successfully manage a large workload while bringing fresh direction and insight for a large variety of projects.
  • Offer creative solutions that meet operational requirements such as materials, durability, etc.
  • Procure necessary approvals through reviews with Creative Manager prior to creative presentations to business owners, marketing reps and external partners as needed.
  • Create materials in various languages including Hebrew and Arabic (translations supplied).
  • Knowledge and understanding of cultural nuances between the various markets that the creative covers.
  • Manage and deliver a wide variety of projects for multiple regions on time and within given budgets.
  • Accurately track project timelines/deadlines and creative hours.
  • Execute creative of the highest quality that delivers on the marketing brief.
  • Ensure that all projects are released error-free to vendors and meet the highest possible production standards.
  • Be a Brand Steward helping the creative department adhere to and continually help develop the companys brand positioning as needed.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.


DIMENSIONS:


Position of senior graphic designer impacts all marketing programs and supports company financial and organizational goals. Position handles digital, video and print projects that range from low-budget internal pieces to brochures that range from $500k to 1mm+ annually to multi-million dollar marketing campaigns. Department workload averages 300-500 jobs per month. Creative Presentations to all levels of management inclusive of senior leadership. Collaborate with Marketing Reps, designers, copywriters and production department.


NATURE AND SCOPE:

Must be flexible and open-minded in regards to design alterations and directions given by superiors and Business Owners. Good communication skills are essential with all members of Marketing Services department as well as any Norwegian department. Works with other team members in the relentless pursuit of success.

Business Owner groups includes Casino, Photo Operations, Sales, Human Resources, Hotel Operations, STYLE team, Fleet Personnel, Onboard Revenue, Shore Excursions, Food & Beverage, Documentation, IT, Entertainment, Port Operations, Environmental Regulations, New Build and Public Relations.


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design and/or Advertising preferably from Design/Fine Art Institution or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of relevant background and work experience.
  • Minimum three years design experience in a Corporate or agency creative department required. Strong portfolio that includes consumer print advertising, digital design, collateral design, logos, multi-media campaigns and video. Business to Business work a plus. Ability to create superior, original designs for Print and the Web.
  • Must be an expert in graphic design capable of executing all creative aspects of a project as needed and have demonstrated an ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle a range of types of projects from simple to multichannel campaigns.
  • Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • Senior graphic designer will be detail oriented with the ability to prepare files that are printer or web ready.
  • A thorough understanding of production is a must in order to be able to interact with Production Manager for the development of printed materials.
  • Strong conceptual skills, including creative design solutions within the constraints of the brief/specs.
  • Exceptional eye for detail in every project that is undertook.
  • Excellent and accurate typography skills.
  • Strong time and creative project management skills.
  • Working knowledge and experience with HTML and CSS.
  • Advanced knowledge in current graphic design practices and web production software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office on Mac OS.
  • Comfortable to be able to work with multiple languages.
  • An understanding of the latest creative and design trends; and keeping up to date with the latest developments in the industry.
  • Understanding of video creation/animation using Above After Effects/Premiere/Animate desirable but not essential.
