Are you an experienced Programme Manager looking to Grow with Gatwick?

To support our growth as we build back from Covid 19, our construction team is expanding.The Construction Department comprises several programme and project teams, along with technical support functions and is accountable for the delivery of the airport CIP and strategic growth over the next 5 years, encompassing projects across the campus to deliver fit for purposecritical infrastructure.

What is the role?

The Programme Commercial Manager will play a key role in Gatwick's future, supporting the Programme Manager in delivering the strategic aims of the business through development, implementation and delivery of effective cost and commercial processes across a programme of projects (£10-£150m in value).

As Programme Commercial Manager you will be accountable for all cost and commercial aspects of a programme, ensuring that all performance targets are met or exceeded in a timely and consistent manner.

What will you do?

Manage the programme's commercial team across multiple projects within the assigned programme to achieve desired business outcomes.

Development of the commercial team; set standards, manage, motivate, coach and mentor staff within the team. Recognise talent and assist in the development of those with high potential.

Change control for all projects across the programme and support resolution and compliance with contract requirements and timescales.

Development and maintenance of accurate project cost plans and cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle to support the governance and procurement processes, including the Risk Drawdown process.

Management of the programme budget, ensuring value for money and validation of costs through the use of appropriate internal and external benchmarks.

Formal programme cost reviews to ensure alignment of the cost plan and programme, action and investigate deficiencies.

Contract cost assessment and acceptance/rejection, assessing compensation events and performing cost analysis.

Production, and delivery to, Monthly Cost Forecasts (expected to be within a 5% accuracy band month-on-month) using the cost plan, activity schedules and referencing the project/programme schedule.

Management of the Programme/Project Risk and Opportunity Register to identify and deliver efficiencies.

Commercial management of all programme contracts, driving compliance and contractual performance.

Close-out of all projects within the programme, including the development and implementation of project close-out plan(s) to cover defects and warranties, as well as completion of financial close-out through provision of asset cost data for capitalisation purposes.

Support in identifying improvements in Quantity Surveying processes, develop new procedures to improve project delivery and to reduce cost and risk.

Support the tendering and evaluation process including selection of appropriate procurement strategy and contract, and production of pre-tender estimates.

Support the development and maintenance of a culture of world class health, safety, and environmental standards across the Programme and its associated contractors to deliver the highest levels of health, safety and environmental performance achievable

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • Educated to Degree/Post-Grad level or equivalent in relevant engineering, construction or business related field.
  • Membership of a professionally recognised cost organisation such as RICS.
  • Experience (typically associated with ten years' experience) as a senior QS/QS on multi-year programmes/projects with a value typically in excess of £50m in a relevant industry including experience guidingteams of up to 20 people.
  • Experience of programmes of work including multiple, interfacing, concurrent projects highly desirable.
  • Experience in infrastructure programmes/projects in a live operational environment desirable.
  • Significant experienced using web based contract management tools (eg Cemar).
  • Sound commercial and financial awareness. Significant knowledge and understanding of NEC suite of contracts, and associated contract administration and negotiations.
  • Good leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, facilitate and create opportunities for learning for others.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to articulate and present complex ideas in a simple way, including to senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of airport environment desirable.
  • Personal resilience and the ability to manage ambiguity.
