Lead Paralegal

DWF is seeking to recruit a Paralegal to join the Specialist Recovery team based in our Liverpool office.

Based in our Liverpool office but working predominantly at home, you will join a dynamic and fast-paced Specialist Recovery team and gain access to top level industry training. You will have daily video contact with your supervisor and with the wider team through weekly video or in person meetings. Using technology you will be able to work from home but have full access to the support of your supervisor via Microsoft Teams app.

The Role

The successful candidate will be based in the Specialist Recovery Team handling all manner of insurance recovery claims including tort of deceit, void policy claims, Article 75 claims and general recovery opportunities arising from fraud, motor and other insurance sources. Cases can be of any value.

We will consider candidates with Litigation experience of working in house with an insurer or from private practice. Candidates will have the ability to work well within a team, be confident liaising closely with more senior fee earners and clients, and to have strong organisational skills.

It is desirable (not essential) for candidates to have gained experience in use of a case management system and be able to deal with cases on a no-paper basis.

Main Duties:

  • Under supervision run a varied Fast Track Injury caseload of Recovery claims towards a satisfactory/speedy conclusion.
  • Action all cases in line with practice group/client service standards and protocols ensuring the monitoring and completion of MI as required;
  • Working pro-actively to progress claims efficiently to a conclusion.
  • Raising case or client issues with the wider team as appropriate.
  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing communication to clients and third party insurers, via telephone, email and post.
  • Opening files electronically, including regular high volume uploads from bulk clients.
  • Driving sector specific business development relationships and actively assisting in the management of relationships with new and existing clients.

Skills:

  • Ideally, (not essential) experience of litigation, insurance claims handling, fraud recoveries or subrogated recoveries.
  • Drafting experience.
  • Strong IT and keyboard skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, and MI reporting.
  • High level of proficiency in written and spoken English, including a confident telephone manner.
  • Excellent administration / organisational skills.
  • A good team spirit with proven team working skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility, willingness to learn on the job and to participate in learning and development opportunities.
