Learning & Development Manager

Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) is the trading arm of The Salvation Army in the UK and Republic of Ireland. We were established in 1991 to help fund The Salvation Armys vital work with vulnerable people in the UK, and today we raise money and encourage reuse and recycling through a network of over 220retail outlets, includingcharity shops,Superstores andDonation Centres plusaclothing collection division, all of which is rapidlygrowing and developing.

With the support of the British public, we have been able to donate millions of pounds to The Salvation Army over £43 million has been donated in the last five years alone, helping to fund the extensive and very important work that The Salvation Army carries out including homelessness and addiction services, care for older people, help at emergency incidents, support for adult victims of human trafficking in England and Wales and a Family Tracing Service.

The role:

In order to continue to support and develop them and give them the skills that they need to be the best that they want to be,we are growing the L&D team and recruiting for a new role ofL&D Manager, who willprovide proactive and professional direction and support to our operational teams, as well as implementing learning and development priorities and interventions through a blended approach.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create a Talent Management & Development Strategy to address the needs of all colleagues
  • Evaluate individual and organisational development needs and implement training initiativesacross all areas of a very interesting,diverse and successful business
  • To oversee the development and management of our award winning LMS, The Learning Booth (winner:Positive Impact Business Award 2021)
  • Design and deliver innovative people management courses for all line managers
  • Have ownership of the Skills Development Training Initiative (Apprenticeship Programme), fully utilising the Apprenticeship Levy.
  • Produce management information/statistics that evidence ROI, identifying trends/opportunities and recommending improvements. Prepare feedback and reports on L&D, projects, targets and accomplishments
  • Assess the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities; help managers develop their team members through career pathing and succession planning
  • To support line managers in their role as people developers, providing guidance, advice and access to an appropriate range of blended development tools

The ideal candidate will be:

  • An excellent communicator; beingable to design and deliver innovative training course material
  • Demonstrably accurate, methodical and organised
  • Energetic, with anenthusiasm to succeed; passionate about learning & development
  • Able to demonstrate proven experience of designing, creating and delivering innovative training tools, evidence robust evaluation processes of learning programmes delivered and outcomes achieved.
  • Proficient inIT, with theability to use Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Learner Management Systems
  • Excellent in using interpersonal and communication skills with an outstanding customer service approach
