Linux Kernel Developer

As a Linux Kernel Engineer you'll be working with the best and brightest minds in Pavilion to deliver the storage solutions that will power the next generation STORAGE PLATFORM. Success in this role is characterized by consistently delivering timely and quality products that delight our customers with fewer customer facing defects and outages. Your individual contributions will safeguard product experience of our customers and will have multi-million-dollar impacts to the bottom line. You’ll design and develop systems and applications used by Pavilion customers worldwide. You will regularly interact with engineering and business leadership and participate in the planning and execution of technology projects initiatives.

Primary responsibilities

  • Design and development activities with core kernel development team member(s), and other stakeholders.
  • Uses Test Driven Development (TDD) and Test Automation as much as possible.
  • Help the team with triaging of issues reported by internal testing team and participates in discussing and implementing high-quality solutions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain efficient and effective communication and collaboration with other engineering teams, product management and SQA to manage dependencies.
  • Discuss daily progress and hurdles and participates in backlog grooming, Release/Sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Provides high quality documentation, release notes and root cause analysis, where required, meeting company standards.
  • Ensure the product meets the quality goals of functionality, performance, stress, stability and reliability.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Industry experience.
  • Expertise in Linux Kernel driver development and related debugging skills.
  • Extensive experience with C, C++, Python, and other scripting languages, Kernel debuggers, driver level development techniques.
  • Good in Data Structures & Algorithms, Problem Solving.
  • Significant experience working on large code bases.
  • Capable of architecting/understanding complex software solutions.
  • Good understanding of Storage Arrays, NAS appliance, NFS, CIFS, SMB is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter, comfortable working with remote teams.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.

Good to Have Skills

  • Knowledge in one of these protocols - Fiber Channel Protocol (FCP)/SCSI/iSCSI would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to NVME and NVMEoF using Ethernet based RDMA protocols iWARP & RoCE – would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience to work in fast paced start-up environment is advantageous.
