Commercial Legal Counsel, North West Plc

Household name Plc seeks to recruit a commercial generalist to work within a busy legal department. Our client can consider full or part-time working. This is a hybrid role with 2 days in the office per week.


This is a broad general commercial position advising the business and drafting/negotiating contracts which can be very complex. Work will involve:

  • Negotiating, drafting and advising on a range of contracts including supply of goods and services, JV, R&D, IT and IP
  • Advice on data sharing and processing including GDPR
  • Corporate matters arising from assets and statutory functions
  • Overseeing commercial disputes
  • Support to cutting edge projects including renewables
  • Regulatory oversight including changes in the law
  • Supporting colleagues where needed with other commercial matters
  • Mentoring more junior staff
  • Conducting internal training

We are looking for:

  • A UK qualified solicitor or barrister with minimum of 3 years PQE*
  • Well regarded law firm or inhouse experience, preferably within a similar sector (infrastructure/construction/energy/utilities/engineering)
  • Significant commercial law experience
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal, commercial and team skills
  • Experience in supporting and mentoring more junior lawyers
  • Confident and able to work with senior management
