Health Communications Coordinator II-Clinical Advancement

The Health Communications Coordinator II will carry out daily tasks related to the research, development, implementation, and evaluation of health communications campaigns, strategies, and initiatives for diverse audiences. This position will also write and edit content for communications products in a variety of formats, create and maintain content calendars, track and report on communications metrics, and support the execution of needs assessments, dissemination and outreach efforts, and other health communications program activities as needed. The Health Communications Coordinator II will collaborate closely with communications specialists, subject matter experts, multimedia developers, writers, editors, and program managers across many facets of health communications programs.


  • Support the development, execution, and evaluation of health communication programs and campaigns.
  • Active in the development of resources for health care providers aimed at improving patient outcomes, working closely alongside SMEs.
  • Participate in developing, coordinating, and holding qualitative interviews, focus groups, surveys, and other formative research that helps gain insights into audience perspectives, needs, and preferences; analyze data/themes and develop draft reports based on this research.
  • Apply results of formative research by crafting engaging messages and communications materials (e.g., short emails, social media posts, Canva graphics, website content, video scripts) to promote health initiatives and science-based information to health care providers.
  • Create dissemination and outreach plans to promote communications products.
  • Work closely with strategic communications experts and other content experts to leverage knowledge and resources, thereby ensuring accuracy of messages and materials.
  • Develop and maintain content calendars for traditional and social media channels and for specific health communications initiatives.
  • Track and summarize communication program analytics (e.g., email and social media metrics).
  • Coordinate and monitor implementation of administrative procedures and practices, including reviewing and submitting invoices for approval.
  • Provide meeting support including drafting meeting agendas; scheduling and attending meetings; note-taking; and preparing meeting summaries.
  • Assist with the development of reports and presentations including creating tables, graphs, and other visuals.


Education: BA/BS in Communications or related field

Language: English fluency (oral and written)

Experience: 2+ years of experience working in health communications or related field. Experience writing and editing content for dissemination in various formats (e.g., print products, web-based content, social media messages).

Knowledge: Marketing, communications, writing, editing, media relations.

Soft Skills: Demonstrates strong collaborative skills-can engage with colleagues to support client activities. Very strong written and oral communications skills. Ability to handle multiple projects at once while maintaining attention to detail; strong organizational skills. Ability to produce high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to customer/client service.

Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Location: North Bethesda or Remote

PREFERRED Job Qualifications:

Education: BS/BA in English, journalism, communications, public health, or health-related discipline

Experience: Knowledge of behavioral health or public health; experience developing communications for health care providers; consulting/contracting experience supporting a public health government agency (CDC, NIH, FDA, HRSA) preferred; participation in project activities for behavioral health-related evaluation projects (e.g., data collection, development of online surveys, formative research).

Software Prociency: Experience with Multimedia Design software, such as Canva; Google analytics experience; Gov Delivery
