Compensation Analyst

Position: Compensation Analyst Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Compensation Analyst Grand Rapids, MI The Compensation Analyst will assist in the design, development, and implementation of compensation processes, policies, and systems by working closely with the HR team. Position will form and maintain pay structures, research salary market data, handle compliance with state and federal regulations, update job descriptions and classifications, and work in conjunction with department leaders on pay processes and communications. The Analyst will make recommendations regarding salary grades or market rates for specific jobs. The position will work often with highly sensitive organizational information, as well as, personnel issues that require a high level of discretion, tact, understanding of laws and regulations involving confidential information. Key Responsibilities:
  • Benchmark external data to perform analysis to assess compensation market trends and comparisons.
  • Determine firm's competitive position by participating in compensation/benefits surveys.
  • Provide guidance to HR Generalists on pay decisions and guidelines.
  • Manage the internal equity of roles; partner with HR team and firm leaders to organize jobs/title structure for effective career paths.
  • Conduct evaluations for new and revised positions.
  • Effectively communicate with firm leaders and HR team to educate on compensation programs and philosophy.
  • Review and approve salary actions to ensure adherence to policy and guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of compensation data reporting.
  • Consolidate, interpret, and present data analysis on compensation related items.
  • Forecast future challenges and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Leverage best practices and technology for continuous improvement in administration/process.
  • Provide support related to ongoing compensation processes, including salary planning, and discretionary bonus process.
  • Conducts a range of research, reporting, and analysis to support compensation initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience/Skills: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a human resources, business, finance, or related focus.
  • 7+ years of experience in the analysis, design and/or administration of compensation programs.
  • A methodical approach to work, critical thinking, attention to detail, and accuracy are required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Previous HRIS experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices.
