Marketing & Events Coordinator


Great Opportunity! The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS) is looking for an energetic Marketing & Events Coordinator to join our Team.

This position is for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the non-profit and/or publishing areas. We provide in-house training and offer a chance to utilize and develop technical and interpersonal skills, work collaboratively within and across departments, and gain a comprehensive knowledge of academic publishing and the ways each department and individual contributes to the shared goals.


Responsible for promoting sales and marketing efforts with a heavy focus on social media, digital campaigns, and content development. Assists with all activities related to the organization’s presence at industry conferences.

Essential Duties

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

·         Play a key role in JBJS’s social media execution and evolution

·         Plan, organize and execute JBJS exhibitor/trade show attendance and marketing.  Work closely with our contract publisher and conference production agency. Coordinate JBJS booth schedules and activities at major trade shows

·         Assist with the creation and management of content marketing initiatives

·         Supports the creation and deployment of email marketing campaigns

·         Interact with external marketing agencies, partners, and vendors

·         Measure, track, and report on program results on an ongoing basis

·         Perform basic design functions as needed (i.e., creating and editing graphics for social media, digital ads, email, etc.)

·         Stay current with and apply latest marketing best practices

·         Supports business development efforts

·         Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications (Education/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

·         Bachelor’s Degree required

·         2 plus years of coordinator/support experience

  • Highly efficient with social media platforms/tools including Hootsuite

  • Basic/intermediate design skills. Familiarity with Canva is a plus

  • Proficient with MS Office

  • Ability to work as part of a team as well independently

  • Excellent verbal as well as written communication skills

  • Strong, writing, editing, and proofreading skills

  • Outstanding attention to detail and quality

  • Effective problem-solving skills

  • Deadline driven

  • Proactive and ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Event/trade show support a plus


Physical Demands/Efforts

·         Work performed is typically sedentary with occasional periods of walking and standing. May require stooping, kneeling, and crouching

·         Utilizes finger dexterity to perform computer operations

  • Must be capable of effective oral communication via writing, telephone, or face to face


Mental & Visual Demands

  • Mental concentration required to work with numbers and spreadsheets

·         Work requires frequent visial effort for extended periods of time


Work Environment and Hazards

  • Work environment is in a typical office setting free from noise and hazards
