service manager! (FOH)
we're seeking an experienced FOH manager + wine steward!
we're Eight Row, and we've been open since August of 2019. we're a Pan-American restaurant located in the heart of Green Lake, and we're excited to find folks who want to come and do great things! we LOVE food and are PASSIONATE for service + hospitality.
through March of 2020, we were a good restaurant becoming a GREAT one. and a lot has happened since then! we are thankful to have stayed open through all 2020 had to throw at us.
in order to keep providing our guests with GREAT service and food + beverage, we're in need of someone to help lead our team! you'll train with our current GM,as well as our Director of Hospitality.
here are some loose qualifications:
- love food
- love hospitality
- give 10/10 everyday and strive for 11/10
- excellent knowledge of fine dining standards
- excellent knowledge of bar/beverage and wine
- genuine 'people' skills (aka hospitality-oriented)
- flexible, ready for anything, loves learning and moving fast
- reliable, punctual, honest
- empathetic, team-oriented
- experience with PlateIQ, Xero, Homebase, Tock, ADP, Square ... not required but highly preferred!
- experience in LEADERSHIP (e.g. LEADING PEOPLE / encouraging / coaching / teaching)
- experience with adversity and trials
- a fiend for greatness!
this role will require many hats, but don't worry! you'll be trained accordingly. we appreciate the folks who have a lot of experience working many FOH roles (host, server, bar-back, food runner, bartender, etc. etc.) in ADDITION to manager experience. it is important to know about the roles you'll be leading. if you're a sommelier, an experienced bartender looking to move-up, or have other shift-lead type experience, you still might be great ! general manager is a big job, so experience as a GM or AGM is definitely preferred. but, hey! ya never know. even without these titles in the past, you might be just the fit!
this role may be salaried or hourly, DOE. this is something we'll discuss together, and is schedule-specific as well. if salaried, benefits will be offered after 30 days employment. if hourly, your role may also qualify for tipout.
this role requires both back-end work (aka office work, working with reps, etc.) AND on-the-floor work! we don't have anyone who just sits in the office (and even if we had time for that? we couldn't, because we love serving people too much!) anyway, flexibility is key! we can chat more about scheduling in the interview. needless to say, a full availability is required. be prepared to tell us about your experience (or desire to gain experience) with both sides of the job: administrative and guest-facing. we will teach you what you need to know, but tell us about where you've been and what you want!
WINE EXPERIENCE IS A HUGE PLUS. we are seeking someone to help run our 300+ bottle program + maintain staff wine education as well. if you are an experienced somm, wine steward or have other relevant wine knowledge, please apply despite management experience, and we'll talk about the rest!
last, this is a family restaurant, and it is the first of [hopefully] SO many. know that we're looking especially for folks who are interested in the long-term, the big picture! we absolutely want team members AND guests to not only FEEL like family, but actually become that. we have irons in the fire for many other projects...
so, for those of you who are still interested, please send:
(1) your resume, AND
(2) a brief paragraph about WHY you love hospitality, restaurants, food, serving others, or the like. being great in this business takes a lot of things! and we want to know YOUR REASONS 'WHY'.
looking forward to meeting you! please email with questions.
